This house is beauttiful; an old historic home; surrounded by gorgeous flowering gardens; a view of Morgan Bay; lots of books;games; and located in a great spot to take advantage of Bar Harbor as well as Stonington. Rebecca and Joseph just could not be nicer and have provided you with absolutely everything that you need. I LOVED this house! Fenced in private yard for the dog. Sit and watch the fireflies at night. You will absolutely not regret staying at the Lobster Dog House - but you probably will regret leaving it and driving away…….

What a wonderful place to stay. Joseph and Rebecca saw to it we had everything we needed and shared many extra special touches. Beautiful property. The location is great if you are looking to explore Acadia as well as many other villages and towns. Loved having access to various peninsulas and thanks to our host’s recommendations we visited places that were not on our radar. Would come back in a heartbeat!

The property and our hosts were just fabulous! It was quiet, centrally located to Bar Harbor, Acadia Park, Blue Hill and Ellsworth. Our hosts, as stated, live in one half of the house, but aside from greeting us upon arrival we did not see or hear them. They were very responsive to a few messages we sent with questions. I prefer property owners to be nearby personally, which is one reason we chose this property, especially as we were three women traveling together (although Maine is a lot safer than where we all came from)! Hurricane Lee came through while we were there and our hosts made sure we were well taken care of with flashlights, generator, etc. We only lost power for a short time, but had everything we would have needed.
The house is lovely, large, comfortable and nicely appointed. We enjoyed both the front and back porches, and outdoor seating as well. It was delightful sitting on the front porch having coffee in the morning, looking at the bay. We also really appreciated the kitchen! We ended up eating out a lot, but it has everything you need to cook and reheat meals, etc. We all really enjoyed our stay here immensely. Oh, and be sure to try and meet Lobster Dog-what a cutie pie!

So fortunate to find this treasure home and location. Situated on a coastal neck, Lobster Dog House provided easy access to many Downeast experiences. A lovely nearby calm beach, several heritage hiking trails, Perrys Lobster Pound are just a few immediate options nearby. Many many towns, parks, grocery stores, restaurants, Maine highlights within a short drive. Our hosts Rebecca and Joe were the ultimate hosts. They made sure we had anything we needed and complete privacy. They live on one side of the property but we never felt intruded upon. If we did pass them outside, they always asked how we were and if we needed anything. They love dogs and their sweet dog, Grizzly, greeted us with a favorite ball. We brought our 2 Boston Terriers and they felt immediately at home in the house and yard. Its an old farmhouse divided into two homes. Rarely heard the owners on the other side (only muffled just by the entry which really is just a passway) and never in the living/sleeping areas We have our own entrance, fence in yard which our dogs love, beautiful gardens (the hosts are master gardeners) three porches. Pumpkin colored old wood floors, and real vintage touches like built in cupboards and antique hardware. However, modern touches like Dish Tv, internet microwave, induction burners, and toaster oven washer and dryer and a good sized bathroom with shower and separate claw foot tub. Love the office nook upstairs with a great view. A rental we'll come back to again & again.

While the property description did mention a couple paragraphs down that the owners occupied one of two units on the property, it was not clear to me when I booked that I would be sharing a single building with the property owners. It was difficult for me to relax under these circumstances, and I felt cheated while using my limited time off from work. Since Vrbo advertises so heavily that it only rents whole homes, it should take more responsibility for scrutinizing the listings posted on its platform.

We love this property for many reasons. The decor and gardens are artistic and lovely. The area is quiet and picturesque but close to amenities. We can't say enough about our hosts Rebecca and Joe. They are very thoughtful and exemplary in hospitality. They live on the back part of the property but are never intrusive nor do we ever hear them. They love dogs and welcome well behaved ones. Our dogs love them, their sweet dog Grizzly and especially the small fenced yard provided. ❤️ we look forward to going back!

We had a lovely week staying at the lobster dog house in Surry Maine. The house exceeded our expectations. It is immaculately clean. And has lots of nice touches to make guests feel super comfortable. We could take our dogs for a nice fall walk every morning and the Wi-Fi worked great for both my husband and I to work remotely. We were in town to visit with our son that attends UMaine in Orono on the weekend. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Great stay at the Lobster Dog House. Property is conveniently located on a quiet road about a mile or so away from a picturesque beach right next to Perry’s Lobster Pound which has delicious food with an awesome view. The historic house is beyond beautiful and cheery. There was a fenced in yard specifically for guests which was great for the dog and the owners left a welcome card with dog treats and a tennis ball for my fur baby. They also included a jar of their homemade jam that was delicious. The interior of the house is super spacious and you have three beautiful bedrooms to choose from one with a partial view of the bay. The bathroom is large and included an amazing claw foot tub. I loved the details in the house which include original 1880s doorbell and stained glass window. The house is huge and feels very secluded even though it is only a few minutes drive to Ellsworth where there is a cute downtown that features great restaurants and breweries. Be sure to stop at Pugnuts for some ice cream right down the road as well and they are dog friendly. The owner of the home was easy and timely to communicate with and friendly. This is definitely a great place to stay if wanting to get a more authentic Maine experience that is not super touristy. It is only a 45 minute drive to Acadia, which we went to almost everyday and there are great shops and things to see along the way so it really was not an inconvenience. The property the house is located on is set back, secluded and nicely landscaped. My overall stay was great and I would definitely recommend this home to anyone wanting to be near Acadia. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for welcoming us and our fur baby into your home.

My husband and I stayed for just over a week in this beautiful, dog accommodating property. While we did not have our pooches along with us for this trip, we were impressed by the prompt response and the flexibility of the owners. They take pride in their property and we were very pleased with our stay. We appreciate older homes, along with their history, and liked that the location of this one was away from, but yet close enough to: Ellsworth, Acadia National Park, the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, and Fort Knox, among other nearby towns and activities. Of course, the end of vacation is always bittersweet, we enjoy our time in Maine very much and always hate to have to leave. This property was no exception to that and is definitely on our list to book again for future trips!

We loved our stay at this beautiful property. Joe and Rebecca are consierate and very hospitable without being intrusive. Although they are live behind the rental we had complete privacy. The gardens are exquisite and we loved the location. Quiet and serene with easy access to trails, restaurants, groceries. Best of all they are dog lovers and our two Boston Terri'ers were completely calm and relaxed at the property.

This charming vintage house is cozy, comfortable and quiet! We loved the beautiful gardens along with the private yard for our dog. We very much appreciated all the amenities from the extra towels and blankets to the washer and dryer! A big Thank-You to our wonderful hosts! We hope to come again!

We fully enjoyed our stay at the Lobster Dog House! Less than an hour from Acadia National Park and rural enough so it’s ‘cozy’ and not ‘remote’. Our hosts Jonathan and Rebecca were wonderful. Rooms are adorably appointed and solid wood furnishings throughout. Thank you so much for a relaxing trip!

We came for the Acadia experience as we love to hike with our dogs and bike. This property was very clean and allowed us to go out each day to MDI. The drive is 45 mins but compared to staying on the island where dog friendly rentals barely exist it worked for us.

This is a fabulous place to stay. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. It’s was a peaceful place to stay to catch up with an old friend. We traveled to many attractions from this location. I highly recommend the lobster dog house.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Lobster Doghouse this weekend! The property was so peaceful and immaculate. Becky & Joe were wonderful hosts who had provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. They are a very warm & welcoming couple. We cant wait for our next trip to the Bar Harbor area and will definitely stay here again!

Our 30th anniversary plans to go to NYC and see Hamilton were abruptly cancelled due to our sick dog. After treatment, it appeared our dog was feeling much better so we needed a "Plan B" get-away nearby that would include our dog Athena. After some searching, we found this lovely Surry property, a little off the beaten path but close enough to Acadia to do day trips. We had a wonderful stay and the property was perfect for us and for Athena. During the day, we took trips to Acadia and for morning and evenings, we had meals at home and took walks in the local, quiet neighborhood including nearby Carrying Cove Beach. We had a wonderful anniversary dinner in Blue Hill at Arborvine. Although it is not a full kitchen, it was well appointed to do basic cooking and fully stocked with everything you need to make meals even for a big group. Although we didn't take advantage of it, it included everything you would need to have your own lobster bake right at the home. I would highly recommend this spot for a get-away with your beloved pet!

Perfect place to stay to enjoy the beauty of Maine in a quiet setting. Easy drive to Acadia National Park and the Bar Harbor area. The owners are very welcoming of dogs and there is a dog friendly beach about a mile down the road (close to fresh lobster!). Our family had a fantastic trip!!

The owners have created beautiful gardens in their yard. The proximity to Acadia and coastal towns was perfect. Easy location for day trips to hike in Acadia or wander around the beautiful towns close by. There is a great beach @ 1 1/2 mi down the road and a wonderful lobster pound to get dinner. Ellsworth is @ 7 mi away and has everything you need for your stay..good grocery stores, L.L. Bean outlet, good restaurants. The house has 3 bedrooms upstairs with one bath. We learned how to share bathroom time without war breaking out. The tasteful furnishings welcomed our weary muscles at night and we watched movies and read together. Large supply of games to play. The owners and their dog are awesome.. Wonderful experience!!

Lobster Fog is located in Surry Maine and about 45 minutes from Acadia and Bar Harbor. It is a very spacious and charming home overlooking Union Bay. It is IMMACULATE and well stocked with kitchen and bath supplies. The home and gardens are beautiful. The owner has complimentary jam and barbecue sauce that he makes in small batches and sells outside his house. It is very pet friendly and has a fenced yard and dog treats as well as dog beach towels for your pet! There are beach supplies for the family to take to the beach about a mile down the road. We loved exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor and then returning to our beautiful home away from the crowds. Our daughter 's family of four plus dog visited us for overnight and it was still spacious with my husband and I plus dog! I strongly suggest you give this home a good look for your stay in this area. You are close enough to tourist areas but far from the hustle and bustle. The owners are extremely nice. It was truly a real find for us and our dog!

I live in an old Maine house, so I never expected the extra clean level of this lovely old house. One day my grandchildren went off to climb a mountain and I stayed in this beautiful house, reading a book by the natural light of a perfect window. It was perfect! I've been to Arcadia a hundred times, but this was probably the best trip. Perfectly kept gardens, plush fluffy towels, every kitchen utensil imaginable, an outside grill, and furniture perfectly placed for comfort: we couldn't have been in a more pleasant place. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we did.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lobstah Dog House. Owners were very thoughtful towards making guests comfortable. Worked very well for our dog. There is a fenced side yard, which is handy for giving the dog some outside time. There is a small beach with a lobster pound about a mile away. It's about a half hour to an hour to the Acadia National Park depending on the time of day. All in all a very nice stay.

This rental was the best of both worlds! It was almost like staying in a B&B; we had the owners nearby and lots of personal touches and amenities, but we still had the privacy of our own rental house. It is a beautifully well-kept, good sized house, decorated with antiques, but very comfortable with several porches and surrounded by lovely gardens. The owners provided plenty of towels and even bath toiletries, coffee, tea and their own homemade jam (delicious!). All of these touches were greatly appreciated. The kitchen is a fair size but while only moderately equipped, has good quality pans and knives and a nice new grill which we used. It was a great location for us to explore Mt. Desert Isle and the surrounding area. We had a wonderful stay at Lobster Dog House and would recommend it to any family who would appreciate a quiet retreat within a short driving distance of Acadia and many beautiful sites.

We looked at many houses for our first trip to Maine and we couldn't have been happier about our choice. The Lobster Dog house is set in a peaceful setting outside the hustle and bustle that Bar Harbor would have brought, but close enough to explore all that Mt. Desert has to offer. The house was large and spacious with plenty of room for four people and two dogs. The owners left no detail slide by thinking of everything you might need and even little extras that made our stay even nicer. The yard was perfect for our two dogs. Within thirty minutes of arriving, our dog broke out of the yard when she found a small hole in the fence. When we mention this to the owners, we said its something she does and don't worry about fixing it, but by morning our escape artist couldn't escape any more. We'd stay at the Lobster dog house again in a heartbeat.

We spent a long weekend at the house and enjoyed beautiful fall days, walks to the beach and pretty sunrises across the bay. The house is beautifully restored and is perfect for a family to relax in. The bedrooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated. It is also a great location for exploring this area of Downeast Maine.
