It felt like staying at a friend's house for the weekend. I got a warm welcome from the caring host and felt comfortable the whole stay. For breakfast, you can choose from well balanced options, but if you want something changed, it is possible anyway. The calm surroundings and the location are very good to relax.
There's nothing to mention here.

Everything!!! Very interesting property and a fabulous host. Vanessa couldn’t do enough for us. The location for the area is brilliant. Could have managed a few more nights!
There was nothing I didn’t like about the property.

Stunning building.
Wonderful host.
Fantastic breakfast.
Dog friendly.
Vanessa looked after us and the dogs very well. Always willing to put herself out. Plus a real home from home.
Nothing. Even though it is set inside a graveyard it was not spooky or scary. A place to really chill out.

Beautiful, very quirky B&B in a quiet village just south of Dumfries. Very rarely you get to experience a stay in a refurbished church and most certainly the peacefulness of the place cannot be matched. Accommodation is spotless and has everything you need. WIFI is of excellent quality, which is convenient since the area is not well covered by mobile data. Breakfast was superb. The place is very dog friendly and the rooms are spacious. Vanessa is an amazing, friendly and knowledgeable host, who knows her area very well and can give you great tips.

A great two night break in a interesting and unusual property. An renovated old church in its very own graveyard....... don’t be put off. This place is a gem! Old on the outside but modern and comfortable on the inside. Our friendly and obliging host Vanessa quickly made us feel at home.
Our room was tastefully furnished. Nice bathroom and modern smart TV . Our only gripe was that the original church window was set high on the bedroom wall giving plenty of light but no view.

And I travel a lot. The environment reminds me strongly of the Lake District, but there are hardly any tourists and car traffic here. A very nice area for hiking and biking! Be sure to take a look at Auld Kirk's social media channels - this is very authentic there and you will be able to experience it exactly the same way here. Gladly again on the next trip to Scotland on the way up! Or down;)

Can rate the Auld Kirk hogh enough. Vanessa was welcoming right from the start even though we had arrived slightly early. The room was spotless and the bed was really comfortable. Candy was also made very welcome and loved chasing the rabbits around the graveyard. Vanessa was helpful and let us know the best places to visit and even offered to run us down to Carsthorn to the Steamboat Inn. Would highly reccommend the Auld Kirk.

This was an impeccible experience and by far the best B&B we have stayed in. In fact 'B&B' is not the phrase to use - we were welcomed in to our host's home where we really were made to feel part of the family. The Auld Kirk is a wonderful building with all aspects of it bright and airy. The clean and modern accommodation rooms were so comfortable. A hearty breakfast set us up for the day ahead. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel special. We will definitely return here.

Very clean, comfortable, friendly, good breakfast. Was nice to relax on the sofa in front of the fire in the evening.
Not a criticism but guests should be aware that there is only 1 pub locally for dinner which requires booking in advance and any other options will require at least a 20 minute drive so be prepared.

Vanessa and Fergus couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating
The level of service and accommodation was better than any other place we have stayed on our tours around Scotland.
The exceptional standard of all rooms and communal areas was second to none.
The breakfasts were delicious and very substantial.
I really enjoyed that all guests ate breakfast around the same table, making us some new friends while we were there.
We look forward to a return visit to Vanessa and Fergus very soon.

The Auld Kirk is exceptional, accommodation outstandingly unique. It was a memorable experience in so many ways, and the relaxed, intimate atmosphere it provides makes it special.
There was nothing to dislike, and the whole concept worked to make it feel like a home away from home.

Fantastic dog friendly stay at the Auld Kirk. Vanessa really goes out of her way to make sure her guests are comfortable and well looked after. Our dog Doris was made to feel so welcome and enjoyed her time visiting. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was superb. We will definitely be returning and recommending to friends and family.
Nothing bad it was a wonderful stay.

Very welcoming and friendly host. Very relaxing atmosphere. Amazing breakfast - nice to have a selection different from the norm.
For things to do - sweetheart Abbey and Caerlaverock Castle well worth a visit. In scaffolding when we went but didn't spoil it for us.
