Wonderful location, wonderful hosts, wonderful time!
This is our third year staying here - each year we stay longer! We were here for over two months this time and have booked for next year. The cottage is well appointed (looks just like the photos) and the location is ideal. It's about a block to State St for shopping, restaurants, movies and museums. The beach is at the end of State. There are bicycles available to use and Santa Barbara is very bike friendly. Plus, Caron and Doug are great hosts, offering everything you need and more! Thanks to you both - see you next year!!!

My wife and I just got back from spending 2 nights at the house and we are already thinking about when we can go back. The house is located just blocks from State street where all the fun and activities are located. We even walked up to the Mission, but I'd probably recommend using the complimentary bikes that are available to use. Yes, I said complementary bikes. A very NICE perk. My wife and I grabbed them Saturday morning and rode them down to the beach and pier. It's a must do.
Doug and Caron are great hosts. The house is equipped with everything one would need for a comfortable stay. Don't hesitate to book this house if you want to experience downtown living and everything it has to offer.

I will definitely give this home five stars!
This gorgeous house is in a great location. It's home away from home - but (almost) better! The decor is top of the line, the light is divine, and there is loving attention to detail and comfort. Caron and Doug are amazing hosts. Bootsie is a very welcome visitor; she is a dog with character and charm. Just like this house.
Highly recommended. Best vacation rental in downtown SB.

Perfection
Caron and Doug, along with kitchen-crumb-cleaner-upper Bootsy, made our month long stay in this wonderful, spacious, comfortable apartment theavenly. A very quick walk into town, restaurants, shops, grocery stores -everything- easily accessible! And the apartment, with its front porch and dining space plus a large fully stocked kitchen--what can we say?! It was so thoughtfully put together that we can't imagine staying anywhere else!

Fun cottage near downtown
My wife and I came here for our 35 th wedding anniversary. The property is very welcoming and comfortable in a craftsman type architecture. Close to everything downtown. Walking distance to 5 star dinning. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Felt very much like home.

I stayed at Caron and Doug's place (front unit) for a work project. I can't say enough about Caron and Doug's hospitality -- they were truly exceptional. In addition, the unit was beautiful, just as in the photos; and very nicely decorated. (It turns out I know one of her sources for ceramics; we have similar taste.) The new fireplace is really very pleasant; I was working very long hours (both at the cottage and at the office), and being able to zone out in front of a fire for a bit in the living room while decompressing was really very pleasant.
A car is definitely not needed if you plan to mostly wander around downtown; I was there for three weeks, and only had a car for a few days -- and it was more trouble than it was worth. It's very nice to find a place in California where you don't need a car.
It is definitely a city location. No problem for me, I'm from the big city, but bear in mind that during the day there is traffic (automobile and foot) out front. (It was quite quiet in the evenings when I was there.)
By the way, there's a café about fifty feet away; I found myself having lunch there on a daily basis. Good food, good coffee, great staff.
I will certainly recommend this property to any friend going to SB; and I hope to be able to stay there again.
Thank you, Caron and Doug, for your kindness and warmth during my travels (& travails)!

Planning a six-week stay in Santa Barbara it was very important for us to find a place to stay where we would feel at home. We most definitely found this at Caron and Doug’s place. We stayed in the front unit and enjoyed many days and nights sitting on the porch enjoying a glass of wine. The kitchen is fully stocked and perfect for cooking even large meals. The bathroom is wonderfully decorated and with top-end amenities. The Livingroom is very cozy and beautifully decorated with comfortable furniture. Wonderful for cold or rainy nights. In the back Doug has a large grill perfect for meat lovers! We retired to the shade in the Lizard Lounge when temperatures got too high. The garden is a little paradise. The location is very central and you don’t need a car. There are bikes you can use to go everywhere in the city. The best about Casitas de colores are Caron and Dough though. They are very friendly people and know just about everything about wonderful Santa Barbara and gave us so many tips for wonderful experiences..... We are definitely coming back! P. S. We absolutely loved Bootsie....!

I stayed at Corone & Doug's place for almost a month. This was my 3rd trip to Santa Barbara in 24 months, and was by far the best one. I stayed in the front unit and in fact, it is better than the pictures show. What impressed me the most was the attention to detail...everything I needed for my entire stay was there (especially the fully equipped kitchen and the bicycles!). Finally, Corone and Doug not only were available and helpful, but were a lot of fun! I plan on returning.

We stayed in this impeccably decorated and furnished downtown Santa Barbara cottage for our 15th Wedding Anniversary. This is a wonderful one bedroom, one bath cottage in a charming Santa Barbara neighborhood, two blocks away from upper State Street where some of the best restaurants in Santa Barbara are located. Every possible comfort and necessity was provided, including bathrobes, slippers, soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, an iron and ground coffee for the coffee maker. We would like to thank Caron and Doug from the bottom of our hearts for a truly wonderful stay. Caron drove me to the airport to pick up a rental car for the last few days of our stay (although a car is not necessary, as everything is within walking distance from this property). I left an article of clothing behind when we departed, and Caron mailed it to me the same day. In short, If you want an authentic Santa Barbara experience, walking distance from all that Santa Barbara has to offer, this is the place for you. Caron and Doug are truly wonderful hosts! We will definitely be back.

Summer Solstice 2015
This place is Magical! Our Hosts Doug and Caron, are so hospitable. This Has to be the most charming place we have ever stayed. Caron has decorated this unit with everything you need, we just had to show up with our clothes.
The Front porch for Morning Coffee is so unique, you feel as if you have always lived in this quaint neighborhood, just a block off State Street. The gardens are beautiful, and relaxing.
We rode Bikes, Watched a Parade, Ran into old friends.
We had such an amazing time, Thank you! We will Always be Grateful for Our Time at Casitas de Colores!!!
Can't wait to come back!

Do not hesitate-- book this downtown gem!
Caron and Doug are the ultimate concierges as well as great hosts. I've quit counting the number of times I've stayed in either the middle or front unit. Both " home away from homes" are gorgeous, centrally located to downtown, and very relaxing. Count on a wonderful stay but be prepared to return again and again.

Perfect Place!
This is our second stay and we will be back. This is a wonderfully decorated cottage, with everything you need including a relaxing patio, quiet breeze and kind, warm hosts. We have stayed in both front and back and like both.

Great cottage near downtown
What a wonderful month in Santa Barbara! You will love staying here!
The cottage is only 1 ½ blocks from State street and less than 2 miles from the beach. Great location. We used the bikes almost everyday (Santa Barbara is very bike friendly).
The porch and patio are really a treat and there is a very nice grill for barbecuing.
The cottage pictures accurately show the house. We especially liked having the dining room table for guests.
We stayed for a month and found it very comfortable.
Doug and Caron are delightful - they helped us throughout our stay!

Perfect location with everything you need
My wife and I were visiting Santa Barbara for the first time and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. We encountered some travel woes and arrived late without our luggage. Caron and Doug picked us up from the airport and gave us everything we needed until our bags arrived. The house was clean, spacious, and very welcoming; just what we needed to relax. There is no need for a car as there are numerous shops, delicious restaurants, and fun activities within walking distance. If we ever make it back to Santa Barbara, we'll be here again lounging on the front porch!

One of the best
This cottage was perfect for us. Spacious, comfortable, and well appointed; the unit was clean, pretty and well maintained. The location is great. You can easily get to many popular spots without a car. The beach and shops are all in walking distance and bikes available as well. Caron and Doug made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. I have stayed in other Santa Barbara properties and this is one of the best. I would stay there again and also recommend to others.

Memorable Stay
I had the pleasure of staying at Casitas de Colores, 112 (front unit) Aug. 8-10. If you are in the Santa Barbara area, I highly recommend it! Caron and Doug were delightful hosts. The casita was lovely and spotlessly clean. There was a plate of Caron's delicious home baked cookies waiting upon my arrival. Everything a guest would need was provided including teas, spices, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, oversized robes, slippers, plush towels, hair dryer, and lush shampoo and conditioner. While planning my trip, Caron was very prompt in responding to all my queries via e-mail. The casita was centrally located in a very nice area of Santa Barbara. If I have the opportunity of returning to Santa Barbara, I will definitely reserve Casitas de Colores again!

Fabulous Get Away!
My husband and I adored staying in the cottage. The cottage is spotlessly clean as well as cozy. A perfect combination! We loved all of the artwork that surrounded us there. It was a great location from which to enjoy Santa Barbara activities. The hosts were more than kind and helpful to us. We plan on returning as soon as possible.

Craftsman Time Capsule
Very, very nice restoration of an early California Craftsman Cottage with unique architectural décor. Close to everything Santa Barbara has to offer. So much like home that we didn't turn the television on until our fourth night. Thank you Caron!! The Kellers

Beautifully appointed, attention to detail, exceeds expectations
What a delight! Owners poured their collective expertise (architect and designer) into this jewel of a property. Renovated kitchen and bathroom (complete with waterproof pillow for taking a bath), plenty of space to store items (enough hooks and flat surfaces in the bathroom), ceramic pieces throughout the house that one would have in their own home. Impeccably clean, artfully decorated, airy, sunny, a sweet porch, the perfect spot to enjoy Santa Barbara. The bikes offered were better than most we rent at cycle shops with bike helmets and locks. The owners were gracious (decaf coffee and homemade cake upon arrival) and available if needed. The location of the home is about as good as it gets...and a new gourmet warehouse/dining venue just opened up blocks away. We have only superlatives to share about the front casita.
