Such an incredible ambience, really interesting common rooms and the suite itself was wonderful
It’s quaintness and ambience

This hotel feels like travelling time. The antiques and period decor are just beautiful, and it is a pleasure to stay in such a historical house, just metres away from the main attractions of Quito old town. Staff are friendly and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. We loved our room with its view over the Panecillo hill and the old town.
Minor issues in the beginning of our stay, like having to ask for the hot water to be turned on in our room twice.

There is a THIEF at the front desk! I had already been charged. On the moment I made the reservation. But I did not know because the hotel hides themselves behind the name CASACRISTA. So, I thought I still had to pay. The guy at the front desk told me that if I paid in cash, I could have a discount. I was fooled. I paid in cash 123 dollars and the property refuses to refund me, even after seeing the video that shows I gave him the money! The dishonest crook says I was giving him a tip! A tip of more than 100 dollars?! This is a ridiculous lie! I urge everyone to stay away from this hotel

Beautiful old villa with rooms furnished like a museum. Spotless clean. 5 minute walk to Plaza Grande. Staff was exceptional - we were allowed to check out 2 hours later due to departure time to airport at no extra charge.
Bathroom had no separate door and was basically directly behind the bed (it has a private screen).

We loved the location of the hotel, the authenticity of the place, and first and foremost, the quality of the service.
Nothing.

I loved everything about this hotel, my stay was spectacular, I enjoyed a great view from my room, also the room, the bed I slept in is more comfortable than my own bed. I was able to get around the city and getting back to my hotel was very easy. Also the staff provided me with a lot of information about places to go and eeo transportation. I really enjoyed everything. It is a place that is definitely worth visiting. The interior of the hotel is like a trip back in time and there is a great story behind it.

Bed linen older than me. Room filthy sofas heavily stained. Room Freezing no heating. Was warned by locals area was dangerous and high number of robberies. Locked inside hotel and couldn’t leave. Breakfast was a slice of toast. Hotel was deserted. Staff attempted to take double amount without discussing even when asked why. Owner insisted I be moved to a room smaller than I paid for as I arrived with a baby which hadn’t been on the booking. Smaller room didn’t even accommodate guests on the booking. Plug sockets didn’t work, leads had to be physically held in place. Found a dead bug in the bed. Was warned by locals the area was extremely unsafe and high risk of robbery. Having tried to resolve a dispute over rooms amicably, owner proceeded to message me accusing me of threatening to ruin the hotel, put guests off and accused me of calling the hotel abusing them and having my “family in Ecuador” also call them as well as accusations that I had sent them abusive messages on booking app and deleted them. My phone doesn’t work here, I have no family nor know anybody in Ecuador, customers can’t delete messages on the booking app, I made no such threats or calls. Ended up vacating the hotel due to fears for our safety. Am very well travelled and never experienced anything like it.

Without a doubt, the most amazing property we stayed in. Granted, the hotel in Mindo was unbelievable, but the combination of staff, helpfulness, location and the magic that is the owner this is the best facility. Kindness is abundant as is a willingness to help and connect us to Quito. Seriously, the stay was wonderful. It was so good that when we returned to fly out of Quito we decided to stay an extra night at the hotel. It's that wonderful.

the elegant heritages the property keeps and represents, also through the introductions and guided tours made by Mme. Mayra Ribadeneira. They’re so beautiful and you’d be honored to be part of them for a period of time.
Noises from guests in other room in the early morning.

There could not be a better place to stay when visiting Quito. The property is very conveniently located, only a 10-minute walk to Plaza Grande and the historical sites and restaurants near the plaza. The owner, Sra Casares, gave a wonderful tour of the property, with its amazing collection of antiques and works of art. She also accompanied me and a friend with whom I was travelling to dinner one evening for a memorable time. The staff, Santiago and Clarita, could not have been more helpful. My room was comfortable and quiet. I would certainly stay at Casa San Marcos again if I come to Quito.

The location was exceptional and he owner and staff were extremely kind, welcoming and helpful. The hotel was a magnificent museum filled with antiques and art.
Certain rooms had not been redone recently. My room had no heating, very poor light and an old bathroom.

Commitment staff to make the stay a success

Breakfast was amazing. The service is incomparable. Mayra is wonderful and Santiago was as accommodating as can be.
Nothing to not like. Maybe the showers are small but they were added to a centuries old home so to be expected.

the owner gave us a tour of the property. she has lots of art and antiques. it felt like staying at a friends house. they helped arrange a car to airport and started breakfast early for us. wonderful!

we did not like anything. The hotel and the room itself were very dirty. Actually it was the dirtiest hotel we ever stayed at. I do not understand how the hotel got five stars. Being ancient and being old and shabby are not the same things.
The toilet, the lamps, the carpets did not see any cleaning for a long time. It was extremely cold at night. As well as very noisy. We decided to check out immediately when we saw the room. Unfortunately it was already too late to look for another hotel, so we checked out in the morning. The breakfast, which the staff brought to our room, consisted only of a bowl of fruits and a coffee. we strongly recommend all visitors of the lovely city of Quito to stay aside from this hotel.
We did not like all in this hotel. Please read above about what we "liked"
Besides the lady owner of the hotel refused to return our payment for the second night.
So please refrain from staying at this hotel if you want to keep good moods and a good feeling of the city and do not want to lose your money.

Stunning room, in an historical building, beautifully decorated and full of interesting art and artefacts. The lady owner was lovely and the staff were wonderful, friendly and professional throughout the hotel and breakfast room. Very kind, helpful gentleman on the reception. We arrived at the hotel as walk in’s, late in the evening, with no booking, having been let down by the hotel we had originally booked. The owner and front desk gentleman, not only arranged a room immediately but upgraded us to the suite, with an amazing view of the city and mount. Breakfast was included and was exceptional. The 2 night stay, was a real treat.
Could not fault this hotel.

This is a unique artsy hotel in a great location in old Quito. The staff and owner make you feel very welcome and provide you with interesting information about the hotel and the city.

Very exclusive historical building. Quito tour started by tour inside the hotel. Impressive

It is like staying in a museum, very old and unique decor. Great location close to the old town.
The room was one of the strangest place I have ever stayed at having the bathroom literally in the room..There is only a partition between the bed and the bathroom so you better stay there with someone you know really well…
There was a thick dust cover in the entire shower, I assume some work was done in the room and it was not cleaned up after.

The deco was amazing. Museum like

I will recommend this hotel to any of my friends who may visit Quito in the future.
the location is super, in the middle of old town. it’s close to everything.
The hotel itself is just like a museum, with 300 years history. the internal decoration is very beautiful, and it’s full of antiques, full of story.
and the host Maria , she is super sweet lady made me feel so touched!
she arranged everything for me before my arrival. while I was in Galapagos and the signal was not good, can’t respond her on time, but she reserved taxi, Covid test for our return flight, arrange your guides, etc. even though I changed our plan later, she was always trying to accommodate my plan.
she gave us a tour, she waited us for return even though it was late, she shared her life experience, she was at my mom’s age, and she did make me feel like she’s as warm as my mom.
I love Ecuador and will come back some time. I will visit her again and want to hear more of her stories!

Would have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to anyone. The location is amazing (right near Old Town - easy walking distance to the basillica, independence and grand plaza's)
The owner and staff go above and beyond in personalizing your experience. Felt like we were coming home to stay with family, rather than a large impersonal hotel. Santiago was even willing to make breakfast for us extra early before the usual start time so we could grab a bite before any early starts we had.
