Wonderful private space, wonderful hosts
The house is gorgeous, and John and Janelle go out of their way to provide a comfortable and beautiful space. Very close to the beach. The rooms (there's only 2) are spacious, comfortable, have great private bathrooms, and you'll want to pay for the AC. There's a kitchen with pots, pans, implements, but you'll have to bring your own food. There's a pulpería just across the street, good for snacks & basics, but better stores are about a 20 min walk away. The road is a much shadier and cooler route to town than the beach, and definitely easier if you have kids. Overall, staying here was a wonderful experience, and we'll return in the future. I lived in El Tránsito in the 70s and early 80s, a couple of houses down from Casa Todo Bueno. Staying here brought back wonderful memories, and we hosted my local Nicaraguan family here one of the days we stayed. They loved it, and we made some great new memories. Plan on staying here for more than a night. The peaceful environment really needs a few days to be appreciated. The upstairs deck and lounge/kitchen area are stunning. Definitely visit the pool at the general's house.
These aren't really negatives, just more FYI. Absolutely loved staying here. You will need bug repellent and sunscreen! The sun is something else, even on hazy days. And the bugs are exceptionally persistent. Mosquitoes here can carry dengue or zika, so make sure you spray kids. The above ground pool is definitely more for soaking, so don't expect to swim. You are a bit away from town, and there's some hills on the road. This is more of an issue for anyone with mobility challenges. Not an issue if you're driving. There's some stairs to get to the main kitchen/lounge area, which were a bit challenging for elderly folks. We managed to get 98yo grandma down going slow and with some help. This part of the coast is gorgeous and has some good surf spots, but you'll have to walk a ways towards town if you want a safer swimming area, especially for kids. Bring córdobas. Some places do take plastic, but not all of them. There's some pets on the property, Lenny the dog is sweet, but the kitties are a bit skittish. I don't recommend letting kids try to pet them. Definitely plan on bringing food to cook. Refrigerators are in each room. Not much actual meals available at the store across the street. You'll have to clean up after yourself too, wash dishes, etc. Just leave the space like you found it.

Would highly recommend! Amazing and comfortable place to stay.
It had amazing facilities, super clean rooms and shared areas. The rooms were large and very modern, with an amazing ensuite. The owner is livery and very accommodating to all needs and wants, she will go out of her way to help you. Was away from the main town so it is quiet and relaxing.
nothing, the property itself was beautiful and very well kept. Just being out of town its a 10 minute walk along the beach to the shops and restaurants.

Excelente
This was the perfect place to stay in El Transito. The room is clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. Janelle and John's hospitality was so friendly and welcoming - they were available to help with whatever I needed while giving plenty of space to enjoy the location. Good options to hang out both right outside the room and in the terrace with hammocks and lounge area. Pictures are accurate. You can walk to the beach in 90 seconds and down the beach to town in just 5-10 minutes.
I liked everything about the place, but it's worth noting that the restaurant (which had wonderful reviews) is closed at the moment, except by appointment, due to the crisis and lack of tourism. The listing was clear about this and there are other good options to eat in town, but in case you read the other reviews about the delicious food and are hoping to dine on site, know that you'll probably need to arrange this in advance until the situation improves (hopefully soon).
