I RARELY give top notch marks, but this place earned every bit of the top spot.

What a beautiful place nestled right downtown behind Main St. Parking is a little tricky if you have a big vehicle like a my truck but it is manageable and convenient. The owner Kate is a sweetheart as is Leanne who cooks the most amazing breakfasts! Wonderfully quiet at night. Real church bells on the hour! Just a wonderful place all around.

There wasn’t a thing not to like. i don’t give full too of the line marks often but this place was incredible. Had ever I dotted and T crossed.

It felt like home at least, or even better

Breakfast was great, organic and healthy, fresh and delicious. Just like we like to eat at home We were offered a breakfast menu a night before, it was served at exact time, chosen by us. We also had an option to in in our suit or in a dining room.

We couldn’t imagine, what could have been better. The owner Kate contact us before our visit, and stated n touch with us through the visit, it was very helpful and added this feeling to be taken care of during vacation. LeeAnn met us at the property, helped us to accommodate there right away, cooked and served a great breakfast, her coffee is the best.

Very charming B&B with historical decor but modern amenities. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the breakfast is delicious. Great location - very walkable to everything in downtown Galena.

The Federal House exceeded our expectations and we would stay here again.

Charming and quiet colonial home steps away from Main St. Galena. Room, bed and bathroom were clean, spacious and comfortable, delicious breakfast too. 10/10 would stay here again.

Relaxing and fun! Great place to stay!

Everything was wonderful! The room was a very clean and spacious. Kate and her staff are wonderful and friendly. Breakfast was great. Federal House is within walking distance to the shops and restaurants.

the room was huge. it was beautifully appointed with the most comfortable bed ever. the breakfast was delicious and the innkeeper and owner were so nice. we were given a great recommendation to a local restaurant which was really delicious.

if it was my last night on earth I would choose this room

Owner is the most genteel and gifted decorator, her attention to detail, high end high class, like coming home to an idealized place: worth more than money can buy, huge room, perfect furniture/paintings/colors/linens/ true historic elegance, warm, every consideration made for every need, a miracle, a huge bargain. Will definitely come again, a RARE gem.

It was a wonderful place to stay for a long weekend in Galena!

Location was perfect-within walking distance of Grant Park, Galena/Grant museum, Grant home, and downtown stores and restaurants. They had off street parking, which was absolutely essential for us! Host was extremely thoughtful (left chocolates and a bottle of wine in the room) and welcoming-it was clear she enjoys hosting. Breakfast was healthy, varied, and tasty-and delivered to our room when requested!

We were very pleased with our accommodations and service. The host was friendly and helpful.

Meals were just right, enough portions and very tasty. The whole house was expertly decorated in period furnishings yet all modern amenities were available.

Exceptional

We loved everything about staying here. The room and bathroom were both spacious and well stocked. The little kitchen had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, drinkware, dishes and utensils. Kate also makes sure to supply you with coffee and a variety of tea's as well as some microwave popcorn. She also made a wonderful breakfast for us each morning. It's is with walking distance to downtown Galena. We will be revisting The Federal House.

Old World Beauty

Spacious, clean and comfortable room, close to the business district. Kate was a wonderful hostess and we loved staying in Galena at this B& B.
