Lovely architecture and the surrounding landscape is very charming. Staff were excellent and made a great effort to entertain and look after the guests.

Michael (the farms exceptional host) was really fun and pleasant to interact with. Nothing was a problem for him and he made everyone feel welcome and included. Definitely wonderful place to stay even if you don't play golf.
Make sure that you book in for dinner as the stories and food are not to be missed.

Central location, in the middle of Tasmania, can get anywhere by car. Cosy room, very quiet and surrounded by nature. Great food, natural farm produce.

Peaceful location. Michael went above and beyond, making us a Sunday Roast which was delicious and setting us up to dine outside our room.

Location was beautiful. The room was spectacular & staff were friendly & accomodating.
Room facilities were a bit limited but this was relieved with access to remote kitchen facilities.

Loved the history of this property but it seemed a little unloved and undervalued for its possible potential
The manager meet us but then took off leaving us on our own even though the website said we could book dinner and that breakfast was provided

Breakfast in the lovely homestead dining room was great. Always good to meet fellow travellers and have a chat too.
No problems with anything

Ratho Farm was gorgeous and the host lovely. We were upgraded to the Premium Cottage. As we were the only guests at the farm that night our beautiful dinner was delivered to our room. The cottage was clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and were very lucky to see a platypus in the stream at the back of our cottage.

Not only the property, the surrounding and the stay were superb, but our host, Michael, has a superbe sense of hospitability and made us felt so much welcome. We loved also the occasion that we had to meet others travellers around the diner table and Michael telling us stories and the history of Ratho Farm. A great place to stay with a great host beautiful surrounding , confortable and cosy accommodation and great food .

Beautiful setting, trees were changing colour, river was bubbling along, heated floor tiles in the bathroom, lovely shower, spotless, except for some big flies which we disposed of.
nothing really, cottages quite a way from homestead if you were there in inclement weather……breakfast would be a rather damp exercise.

The bed was so comfortable, well snuggled up. Plus the staff so welcoming and helpful, sad we did not take up the amazing offer to their special available dinner/bfast.

History of the property; Restoration of outer accommodation suites retaining historical exterior walls; Excellent dinner and book readings by staff about early property occupants and history.
Sloped ceilings in parts of upper floor suites (need to watch your head).

Great welcome from host passionate about the property and it's history. Lovely converted buildings. Enjoyed the evening meal with good company. Catered for gluten free.
Connecting door means noise between rooms could be a problem. Our neighbours were quiet!

Nothing - we arrived to find a house and room which did not match with the website, there was no one around other than one guest - we decided to leave and return to Hobart for our last night - we were very disappointed at the mis-match between website and reality. Ratho Farm did later say that we could have asked for an upgrade, however, we had not.
Everything!

WE STAYED AT THE HOTEL NOT THE FARM. DINNER AT THE FARM WAS JUST GREAT. STAFF AT THE HOTEL WERE VERY HELPFUL WHEN WE ARRIVED AND LATER WHEN THE ROOM HADN'T BEEN MADE UP..
OUR ROOM AT THE HOTEL WHEN WE CALLED EARLY TO DRP OFF OUR BAGS HAD NOT BEEN MADE UP. THIS WAS STILL THE SITUATION WHEN WE RETURNED AFTER 4.00PM. BREAKFAST, SELF SERVE WAS FINE BUT SOME GUIDANCE AS TO WHERE ONE COULD FIND THINGS WOULD HAVE BEEN HELPFUL.

Ancient farm cottage on the outside, brand new bathroom and shower inside.
Like living in a museum but clean.
Plums on the trees (yum) and Highland cows you can feed with the owner.
Quiet location, loved the dinner and amusing historical chat. (I was skeptical, but laughed and found it captivating)
The town was also a fantastic walk. Great buildings.
Can't think of anything I didn't like
Just make sure to get the rooms 'on the farm' for this amazing experience. (I don't know what the ones in town are like)

location, staff engagement with guests, layout. being introduced to other guests by staff and dining with them.
insufficient hooks and place to put bags and luggage, noise between Hay loft and adjacent flat

beautiful old historic homes on the outskirts of Bothwell-a nice town with a small public heated pool-bonus!
We were greeted enthusiastically and given a brief run down of the special features and the innovations made to the accomodation areas. Our converted barn was really nice with a comfy bed and great hot shower. We chose to include the delicious dinner. This is shared with the other guests and the conversation was a treat. A glass of port around the fire to end our evening-bliss!

Excellent facilities and location. Mick was a gem... very professional and pleasant 👏. Food was great and we met some other lovely travellers. Got a little history lesson of the farm. Great place to stay. Many thanks to all at Ratho Farm.

This place is worth a visit just for the accommodation and scenery alone which was so very picturesque. Beautiful grounds and establishment. We stayed in the 1830 Convict Cottage (so clean and modern and absolutely stunning - but beware it is haunted by an old lady who visited me during the night) and woke to see sheep grazing across from our babbling brook. Got some very beautiful photos. Our guest Sarah (who was filling in for Michael) was very laid back, friendly and approachable.
The food and staff. The worst food on our entire trip around Tassie and the staff were so untrained - Sarah (fill in Manager) had no support running around doing everything. We watched a staff member work the BBQ for dinner who didn't seem to know what she was doing - then it caught on fire and Sarah had to grab a fire extinguisher to put it out. Hence to say, the ripples effects of this was that dinner was late (understandably) but due to it being rushed and remade our meat wasn't rested and we had blood all over our plates so couldn't eat the salad as it was mixed with red blood. We were so looking forward to hearing the History stories which didn't happen. Sarah, with all due credit, did say to speak to her if we wanted to hear about it. In fact our entertainment was one of the guest's young child whose father imposed on us to hear her sing a song that we couldn't even hear. We had to seek out drinks constantly as there was no staff attending to the tables and Sarah had been held up by up by guests in the kitchen wanting to chat - maybe about the history?. Breakfast was even worse. The coffee pod machine wouldn't work and even though we had booked in for 9.30 breakfast there was really no food left and one girl floating around who barely spoke. Not worth $24 a head - we should have hit the road and gone elsewhere. We and other guests waited in reception at checkout time for 20 mins but no one came when we constantly rang the buzzer so we just left our keys on a table. Would have loved to have talked to someone about the old lady ghost that came in the night ...... Unless you play golf one night here passing through was enough. Go for the experience of staying in a Historic Cottage and not the food.

There were No Locks on Both The Outside Doors Probably not needed as Its fairly isolated but not a comfortable feeling
