Great location. The view is amazing from the top floor. Had a cozy feel.
A bit cluttered upstairs.
Opened bottom toilet door and decided to leave it alone. Had a bad smell about it.

The outside to the property, despite the weather, was pleasing.
The overall cleanliness was good.
The interior design was pleasant.
Beds were comfortable and bedding was clean and fresh.
The double bedroom on the ground floor though very small, was just about manageable. However, there was no wardrobe and only a few hangers were left for two people over a Christmas period. The two mirrors were so high that I, being 5’3” could not reach to see through either mirror. The towels that were left (one small hand towel and one slightly bigger) were so worn, hard and had bleach stains all over them that we had to go to the extra expense of buying towels which enabled us to dry ourselves. Two people were expected to use these two towels for the five days we were there (which frankly we wouldn’t even use for our dogs). The shower room was absolutely ridiculous and to expect two or three people to use a toilet in which you had to step into the shower to use was disgraceful.
We had also asked on a number of occasions if they would just add some Christmas lights, but even failed to do this. Only half a toilet roll was left in each bathroom, no washing up liquid etc. the tv was limited for channels as it was not a modern smart tv, so all in all, it was thoroughly depressing g to stay there and, though we always go away for Christmas, this experience has put us off entirely. We could not wait to leave and it just ruined our Christmas as even the glass table which we tried to extend, had a ridge which the glass kept falling off.
They really need to take this feedback into consideration as I would certainly not recommend this property or Sykes to any of our friends who travel as much as we do if not more.

The location was lovely, we walked into Chester which took us about half an hour, a slow walk along the river for part of the way. Nice views from the upper floor.
A little tidier outside, although we didn’t use the outdoor area there was a little lack of attention to tidiness. Guests with mobility difficulties may struggle with the stairs.

The house was beautifully decorated. The courtyard was very private & a lovely suntrap. Very comfy beds. Great location.
The ground floor bathroom/shower room is so tiny & the ceiling so low it was unusable. The ground floor smelt very damp & musty. The property is on a very busy road so was noisy at night.

Very cosy and felt like a home from home
Quirky but modern

Ivy Cottage is a wonderful little find. It truly feels like a home from home. The beds are some of the comfiest I’ve ever slept in! The view is spectacular, with it only being beaten by the view from the pub over the road.
Lots of amenities to make your stay comfy and perfect. Take your own hair dryer though - as we didn’t and couldn’t find one provided. That’s entirely our fault for being forgetful though!

Brilliant views. Nicely furnished. Approximately 15 minute walk into Chester centre and short drive to Chester zoo and Cheshire oaks areas.
Nothing, but recommend reading the details carefully as won’t suit everyone’s requirements.
4.3
Spacious lounge and kitchen on the top floor with lovely views
It probably needs a little TLC in places - a little touching up if walls etc and the cutlery and cups could do with updating

lovely cottage, in a good location with everything you need to have a great stay and very helpful owner.
Nothing

location, size of property, fact that dogs were allowed
felt damp on lower ground floor, downstairs shower room not used due to size, but toilet was a bonus. Living area was small gien number of bedrooms and likely number of people (8). Wouldn't have been able to sit down for dinner as a group of 8 people.

Ivy Cottage is full of character & has all you need for your stay. It’s in a convenient situation for a stroll into Chester, with a couple of supermarkets 5 minutes away. It’s a great base for exploring North Wales & Snowdonia or for visiting Liverpool & the Wirral. There’s free parking in the street & one place off street, we had 3 cars & never had an issue parking.
Personally we felt the downstairs shower room was just too cramped so we all opted to use the first floor shower. The toilet was indispensable though!
