Just wow! Such an exciting place and location!!! Staff super friendly. Amazing that they have restaurant and pub there cuz location is right in the mountains. So picturesque and charming. Rooms are clean. Despite the old estate the bathrooms are very modern and comfortable. Price was good as well, absolutely worth it!
The building is old so you should expect squeaky floors, Otherwise all good

It’s charm , scenery and friendly /helpful staff
The room size was a little small and the bathroom needed updating.
However was clean and fit for purpose.

It was the second time we stayed here, the restaurant was closed last time we stayed but had reopened this time, it had a lovely cosy atmosphere and we had several meals over the weekend and the food was amazing! Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Would definitely recommend this place it is in a great location not too far from Keswick and lots of walking routes nearby.

Very homely

Amazing old inn nestled amongst incredible scenery, beautifully furnished, lovely bar & staff, would definitely love to go back!!
Would have preferred carpets in the room to make it feel cosier but that’s just personal preference! Our room was right at the top of the stairs with really loud squeaky floorboards in the hall so we got woken up several times really early in the morning by people walking past, would advise asking for a quiet room!

Good location. EXCELLENT breakfast.
All good. Small bedroom.

Friendly staff and comfortable room. The Cleaning was good. Charming old house. Overall, the food at the restaurant was delicious.
Accommodation: Road noise, I did not realise all the rooms were facing the road. Breakfast was good but it took very long due to staff shortage. Finally, last day we could not have a shower as there was an issue with the boiler and there was no hot water.
Restaurant: The fish pie was a lot of cream/potato and very little fish. I thought it was too expensive.

Food and drink great, room comfortable, staff friendly and helpful

The Local Beer
A Bit More Choice on the Food Menu But the two meals we had were very Tasty

Excellent service, room and accommodation.
Great location.
4.5
Food was fantastic, breakfast and dinners we had were brilliant and highly recommended. Beers available were good but a little limited. Rooms were very nice, recently done up. Re really loved the place and would recommend it.
Just due to the age of the property the windows are single glazed and let noise through from the passing cars. Could here some noise from people in the rooms next door without them being excessively loud. This is just due to the age of the property and there is nothing that the owners can do about it. I would recommend taking some ear plugs for that reason.

The staff were all really friendly and helpful, the location was great, especially for convenient transport links and walks nearby. The stay including breakfast was fantastic value for money, we would definitely stay here again
The bed wasn’t the most comfortable

The location was perfect for us. Right next to Lake Thirlmere. The food was great, and breakfast.
The mattress in our room needs changing. It was really uncomfortable.

Great location for walking and exploring local towns, a proper traditional inn with log burning fire
with being close to the main road there was a bit of traffic noise in the room.

Clean, comfortable room. Lovely relaxed atmosphere at the hotel. Perfect location. Breakfast was very nice, choice of full English, veg option as well as other choices. The evening menu is a little limited but the food was delicious. Would reccommend
No complaints really.

The location is great for getting to any part of the lakes whether up to Keswick and Borrowdale or down to Ambleside and Windermere. Well equipped and clean property that we found excellent value for money.
The hotel was partially closed and there was no bar or dinner options but we were well warned beforehand so it was not a problem. We ate at the travellers rest just outside of Grasmere which was a great alternative.

The beds are so comfy and lovely rooms.
Very relaxing place to stay.

The room was very comfortable and peaceful. A perfect getaway in a peaceful location but within easy commute to Keswick, Grasmere and Ambleside for entertainment and amenities. Will definitely return in future when the neighbouring pub and restaurant reopens after refurbishment.
The neighbouring pub and restaurant were unfortunately closed for refurbishment, but we also understand that this was essential during off peak tourism dates, so we will hopefully be back soon to experience both on our next stay.

Unbeatable location for climbing Helvellyn & hikes around Thirlmere lake, only 10/15 minute drive to the amazing town of Keswick & Derwent Water - the room was amazing and had everything we needed in, beautiful reception area with log burners etc + a vegan option on the menu! Will definitely be coming back to stay :)

Staff were fantastic, the stay was warm and comfortable!
My only criticism would be that there was no coat hooks in the room.
