Freshly cooked breakfast was excellent.
Quirky layout in room meant granddaughter aged 9 years had her own bedroom area, up two stairs, slightly partitioned from the adults and her own tv which she loved.
Salutation pub was cozy on a rainy night, we didn’t have to go out the building to go to room.
No coat hooks on back of bedroom door for wet coats to hang.
Wardrobes have hanging space but no drawers for sweaters etc.
En suite is a squeeze, very little space to put toilet bags and hang damp towels for three people.
Also have to sit sideways on the toilet due to wash basin overhanging toilet.
Minor issues, en suite quite irritating, didn’t spoil our stay, but first two could be solved easily.

Village location. Great bus service
Room was very small, overlooking bins. Cameras pointing towards bedroom. Delivery men walking past could look straight in window. No view at all. Very noisy toilet fan

Superb dinner and breakfast. Proper pub, with lovely ambience.
Our bedroom, although nicely furnished and comfortable, was compact and overlooked the large dustbins area, which was disappointing.

Location was lovely. Just 4 mile out of Keswick. Bus outside takes you straight into town if you want to go out, so you can leave car behind. Breakfast was good, hot cooked and cereals, fruit and yoghurt.
There was a mix up with our room and we were put into a room for two nights where dogs stay. We love dogs but do not like rooms where pets stay as it smells and I get an allergic reaction. The hotel's website is confusing as to which rooms allow dogs but the house rules say no pets. I had to haggle around to get another room for the second night. Some rooms are really small. To get a room the same size as the one I had booked for the second night I was asked to pay an extra 50 pounds. Things got sorted out in the end but could have been handled better as I felt uncomfortable having to keep asking.

Room & the views were fantastic
I’ve had meals in this pub over 10 times. The menu hasn’t changed over the years, but the quality has. Seems to be no love in the meals, very little taste & presentation. The prices are high, but that doesn’t bother me if the quality is there. but unfortunately it’s not.
Time for a change, before the fantastic loyal customers, go elsewhere.

Great location for walking - very good value and staff were excellent
Windows didn’t open in bedroom - net curtain was dirty/mouldy- shame as the rest of the room was fully refurbished

Location was good and nice selection of ales
Over priced for food and drink. Evening meal food was average and breakfast was very greasy and not warm. Room was small but ok. Kitchen looked dirty (racking area when heading to the guest rooms). General condition of hotel looked tired and needed a good clean.

Room was small and compact.

The room was quite nice, albeit a bit small for a room labelled suite. But appreciate the way the sofa was made into a nice bed for the kid, with the little lamb on the side. Nice bathtub, too.
Breakfast was very disappointing, starting with a dreadful, extremely thin coffee and the food overall not great. Also had a very mixed dinner experience, including with one very rude waitress (the others being very nice), food was okay.

I’m coeliac and struggle to find decent catering however the Horse and Farrier is amazing excellent food choices you must try the fish pie, gorgeous, great bar too with GF beer. The staff make this place too thanks to Sam and Andrew and the rest of the HF team who took great care of us we loved it and will definitely return. Great Food, Staff and Location Thanks
Cannot fault this place would definitely recommend it’s a little gem

Lovely decor, clean and staff very accommodating.
Room was supposed to be ‘medium’ sized super king. The super king referred to the bed size but the room wasn’t much bigger. Very cramped and small. Unable to sit at dressing table without blocking all access to bathroom. Sink in bathroom small and useless to wash at. It was more suited to a cloakroom. Toilet virtually in the bath it was that close. Just enough room round the bed to get passed. If we had known we would have booked a bigger room.
Food ok and slightly overpriced for what was on offer. Breakfast average
