We had a fantastic stay here at the brownstone hostel. The team were welcoming, friendly and always happy to provide advice on places to go and where to eat. The communal areas were comfortable and well designed. The free tea and coffee and breakfast was also a bonus. We pvoely the bean bags upstairs too ! The dorm rooms were modern, comfortable and private. Each bed had a curtain, light,shelf and plug. The rooms also had cages with padlocks provided. The hostel also had a cute cafe for coffee and bagels - though we didn't try the menu looked good. The hostel cat was a bonus too !!

The hostel is very open with lots of plants and open windows, making it feel bright and fresh. The only downside is mosquitos, so just make sure you have bug spray if you are prone to being bitten. Otherwise we cannot fault this hostel.

The hostal was pretty and well decorated. Might be the best option for solo travellers, but it wasn’t in our case.

Our room (Majestic) had this unexplainable opaque window facing the common bathrooms, it had no blinds and was impossible to cover so we were left with the bathroom lights shining directly at our faces all night, plus: the constant back and forth (and bathroom noises) were also very unpleasant. The hotel is in a very busy road, and you can hear it all night. Also, it wasn’t clear that our door was a bedroom door (and it was right next to the toilets) so we were scared to death multiple times by people trying to open it. Breakfast was included, but no one gave us any information upon arrival so we had to ask other guests where things were, as staff was nowhere to be found (also, it was pretty simple and western: bread, peanut butter and cereal).

strong smell of mold in the couples room, windows don’t close properly, there is gaps everywhere, mosquitos can come in easily through the open bathroom ceiling or the „closed“ windows (because they don’t close at all) The kitchen and the bathrooms from the dormitories are wall to wall with the double room and there is always someone using a hairdryer. It’s quite loud…

Such a lovely place to stay, so comfortable and relaxing. The beds were amazing and I loved the layout and interior design. I also liked the fact that the toilets and showers were separate so didn’t get everything wet. Also having a laundry machine for self service was brilliant.

Nothing, it was genuinely a really lovely place to relax and chill and I’m glad I stayed there.

Most friendly place I've stayed in Malaysia. Been here three times and stayed in 7 places. Very cosy, close to everything I needed. Can park your motorcycle inside. Sell great coffee, and have a drink fridge to purchase cold ones. Nice communal areas. It attracts young and old travellers. The dorms are exceptional, cubical bunks not open bunks with lockers, best backpacker privacy and security I've experienced. I'm from NZ and stayed in countless backpackers over 20 years. Worth staying a night or more.

Cannot stay with a bunch of mates on a motorcycle road trip as very limited bike parking.

This was a nice hotel to stay at. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfy, and there was a good common area.

The staff weren’t the friendliest, and not very willing to help with any queries we had. The room was also on the more expensive end, and considering it wasn’t closer to the main part of the city, I’m not completely sure it was worth the price.

Location is good, walking distance of the river and old town, a cheap cab ride away from major temples and other attractions. clean, comfortable bunks and common spaces

the soundproofing in the bedrooms is non-existent. the hostel provides free earplugs but the traffic is very loud even at 1-2am at night, annoys even the heaviest of sleepers.

I loved my stay at the Brownstone Hostel. they made such a great effort to decorate this places which feels right away like home. beautiful common spaces, terrasses et super nice rooms. very clean. plenty of restaurants around and walking distance to the old town.

Lovely hostel, clean and great facilities, the free washing machine was a nice surprise and came in very handy.

the location wasn’t great, there wasn’t much to do in that area.
