Location.

I booked through a third party. I was not expecting the room to be like this. I used to work for Shang at the Academy in Zhuhai. This time I tot I could get a room with the glass panel washroom. Oh please check 1402. The shower cannot sit on the handle becos the hose is rubber. Tend to sway to the side. Also don’t have this habit of using paper after baking choc cake. Would prefer a spray hose. Also can help housekeeping a bit by tiding up after baking session. Hahaha Anyway I had a very enjoyable stay. Thanks

Clean and generally quiet. Pool on roof gave option for daily swim and lifeguards very attentive and professional.

Very loud party/ group next door to one of our rooms and kept husband awake late for two nights until 1am.

I love the location as it is right opposite to HKU MTR Station.

Other than the clogging of the shower drainage which the staff managed to do on the second day, else all is good.

Jason checked me in. He was outstanding in terms of efficiency, friendliness and helpfulness.

Cafe Mallorca menu is limited and I didn’t really like the quality or taste of the food. The restaurant was very busy and I had to keep asking / reminding the employees that I needed to order, had to remind them I’d ordered a drink but hadn’t reviewed it, chased the bill several times etc.

Clean, good value for money, comfy and great service.

No complaints based on the price we paid

Location is close to MTR Station with lots of dining options nearby. One of the value for money hotels on HK Island.

Hotel could step up pest control especially during summer.

Amazing location.

The very sweet and attentive staff made all the difference. The hotel is located less than a minute’s walk from the HKU MTR station and a skip and a hop away from the tram stop. There is no shortage of restaurants, coffee shops, and supermarkets in the immediate vicinity.

The rooms are really clean but really tiny. You can’t fit more than 4 or 5 shirts in the comically narrow closet, and there’s nowhere really to put away your suitcases, so you’ll have a fun little obstacle course in the front of the room to traverse everyday. The biggest let down was the breakfast- the restaurant it’s served in has an office building canteen feel to it and the spread isn’t worth the up charge at all. The coffee served is from a Nescafé machine that would be more at home in an office reception.

Good spread, although the menu was almost the same everyday. But the taste and variety was good value.

Include more types of coffee.

* There’s free coffee, juice and sodas on the top floor where the pool is. I mean, it’s not free - it’s for their business members - but most of the time it’s un-manned so you could score yourselves some free drinks. * It’s located next door to a McDonalds and a 7/11 which is great. There are also a few nice local hills-in-the-wall food joints. * The HKU station is also super conveniently located next door which makes MRT travel super easy

* I requested a queen-sized bed but instead was given two twin beds which were small. I almost fell off one of them during the night. * The room was small and dated - definitely not worth the price you’re paying - but that’s normal in Hong Kong I’m told. I still think there are better options closer to Central Station especially for that price. * The elevators are weirdly spaced out. Pay attention to them because it’s difficult to know when the elevators have arrived. If you don’t pay attention you’ll miss the elevators. * There’s no complimentary shuttle to the station like the website says there would be.

I had a particular reason for wanting to stay in that area of Hong Kong, so for me the location was perfect. But, even if you did not require that specific location, it is only three stops on the MTR from Central, and there are plenty of buses, and also the tram nearby. A Harbour view gets you a view of the Western half of the Harbour (so you won't see the ICC or the Peninsula), but it is still a very beautiful view. The rooms are well designed and well maintained. The Club rooms are particularly good value, as they are on the higher floors with better views, and have breakfast, and evening drinks and snacks included. The JEN is very good value for Hong Kong. The staff are genuinely willing and helpful.

There is nothing to dislike about the JEN. I have also stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott nearby, which has similar qualities. But I think the JEN has the edge on value.
