Amazing location. Amazing staff. The perfect hotel

Fantastic hotel right in the city centre Very friendly staff and the hotel is amazing and very spacious I will be staying there again 100% Loads of parking spaces £20 for 24hrs Christmas market gets very crowded so you need to be prepared for this.

Great location, right next to train station and couple of minutes walk in to the centre. Hotel was beautiful, very impressed. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Room was lovely. A couple of hairs and a bit of dust in the bathroom, so could have been better, but was by no means dirty. Would definitely go back

Amazing stay once again. Staff were very attentive, rooms were spotless. They made our anniversary that extra bit special. Will definitely return.

Nice hotel in the city centre but it requires more attention.

Stayed on a junior suite, nicely decorated, beautiful reception/lounge areas with nice tipi in the garden area. Central location for visiting York markets. Slight issue in the bathroom but didn’t spend much time in the room.

After arriving we left our bags and went to the city centre. Returning we collected our bags, and went to our room which was on the 2nd floor facing the garden. I'd previously ordered a fruit plate and chocolates which were waiting for us. The room was lovely and warm, the bathroom clean and a towel swan waiting on the bed. There are notices asking to turn off lights when not needed and to reuse the towels if possible. If you require a dressing gown you have to ask them. There were teas, coffees, biscuits etc but no decaf drinks (which were necessary because of medication) so i asked at reception and got some off them. We both ate breakfasts and evening meals there and the choices were good for both. The staff are very helpful and friendly and you can ask them for anything. We had such a lovely relaxing break, and it's lovely that you feel so welcomed.

Cold rooms and had to be moved due to light switch being broken. Also room service took 1hr 15 mins and was very expensive

Nice hotel, good breakfast, plenty of room

The hotel in it's self is lovely. We did not book in for dinner when we went to the restaurant we were turned away being told they were not talking walk ins. We returned to the bar and booked a table on line! Rather wished we had not bothered the person in charge was very off hand. We waited 20 mins for someone to take a food order only because we ask them to take the order. 30 mins later the food arrived, the two steaks were ordered medium rare, both were seriously over cooked. We refused the food, no apology was made by the manager he just asked if we wanted another meal, we replied no and he walked away. A young waiter called Ewan came over to apologise. It feels very much like staff don't really want to be there at all none of them seem to be happy. We would not return.

For a 4*, hotel was grandly decorated but that was it as the service lacked in lots of areas. Staff were not very attentive and my husband and I had to clear our own table in the Garden Room then ordered a Cream Tea which in the menu was supposed to have been loose leaf but was t bags and tepid water and then had to wait a further 25mins for the scones which we did have 2 of but only enough cream and name for one. Our bed room had just enough room to walk around the bed which was a small double (husband is 6ft 8) and moved on it’s wheel every time someone rolled over and of course woke the other one didn’t sleep much over the 2 day stay, We had booked a table in the Peaches restaurant for the first night which was expensive for what was actually average food unfortunately and again the waiters just plonked the dishes down in front of us and walked off. Would not stay again.

Beautiful hotel but room in the wing was a little small and not very well organised- like no side table, small bed and couldn’t easily open shower screen over bath!

My daughter and i came for two nights, i dont know what we expected but it surpassed it, what a wonderfull hotel and right on the station. The staff were so helpfull, humerus and kind, the leisure facilitys were good. Thank you everyone for making our stay so special.

This hotel has recently been renamed The Milner and we have stayed here before but this last trip fell short on our expectations. Pillows were very uncomfortable and water pressure in taps were just a trickle. We paid extra for breakfast, waste of money! Help yourself to barely warm hot breakfast and empty hot plates. Honestly very disappointing.

Great location with a good atmosphere

Our room was a Sidings double and when we arrived our room was cold and the thermostat broken, we were offered a portable radiator rather than a change of room. We asked to move and this was arranged although we would have expected our bags to have been moved and this didn't happen. We asked to upgrade and were told this wasn't possible even though we would have paid for this. Our room was noisy with an alarm of some kind going off at 6am for an hour and the cistern was also running meaning we didn't have the hoped for sleep in we were looking forward to. Overall, staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

Nice stay for a conference, rooms very well equipped, excellent shower and clean bathroom. Decent coffee facilities and good temperature controls

Room nice. Linen gorgeous. But only 2 on reception and no porter made it a lengthy check in n poor service. The men’s toilet I then went to stunk and was dirty. Very disappointing as I brought my partner her for her 49th b’day.

Beautiful spot to stay in an amazing location! Be prepared to carry suitcases up stairs on arrival at main doors and no ramp. Bellman not available or seldom.

Very nice hotel

Everything was fine other than our room check in should have been at 3pm but the room wasn’t ready until 5pm but we were given some drinks vouchers at reception and all the staff were very nice

Lovely grand hotel, nice communal areas and a good bar inside. Rooms were good and nice clean bathroom. Only negative was the bed which was rock hard and extremely small (stayed in a standard double room)

Stayed here many times, always great staff and never been dissapointed with the rooms, lovely food and the bar is great, we have yet to sample the afternoon tea in the bright spacious garden room but it looks excellent

Room was lovely and quiet. However the kettle cupbiard was broken. Easy city parking. Good breakfast. Bar had limited larger and bar stools not seats.

I arrived at 15.30 after a busy day to be told the room was not ready. For a high quality hotel this is not acceptable when the previous guests will have checked out at 11am. I had to accept another room. The room mattress was clearly past its best with a large dip in the middle. Very uncomfortable. Try the Grand down the road.

Rooms were fair, cupboard space a bot on small side.

I booked this in advance for the Halloween festival and so paid over the top, however it is a great location so I guess this is what you pay for. On arrival parking is limited and first come first served. People had abandoned their cars where they can even in ‘no parking’ spots! After we eventually found a space booking in was busy but ok, staff polite and professional. My room is very, very bijou to say the least. You couldn’t swing a cat (not that I would want to)! There is a shower room and whilst clean, is tiny. The rainfall shower is nice, with an option of a ‘normal’ shower head. The toilet is squashed in at the side of the sink, very limited space, so much so the toilet roll holder is literally almost over the toilet bowl. The double bed, for me was not comfortable at all, and the pillows were also uncomfortable, with no options of pillow choice obvious. The tea and coffee making facilities are in the wardrobe due to the tiny space. can’t see two people staying comfortably in this room. Luckily my son and his girlfriend had a separate room which was a bit larger. There is a window overlooking the station which at least opened. It is clean throughout although the carpet is a bit manky looking. The bar was busy but nice, staff great. At breakfast it is usual hotel food, nothing exciting. Fresh fruit was a nice selection. Overall it was an ok stay, I have been in much nicer hotels for the money (and less). It looks very grand but the rooms are another story.

Nice long weekend in York. The hotel is a very traditional old building with a newer annex. Our room in the annex was a bit compact, but comfortable enough. Some problems with one of the keys loosing its coding which meant long walks back to reception. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was good.
