The property is geared toward older adults. Its nice and calm if that is what you're looking for. We stayed in building 8 and we could hear the music from the night show until about 10pm. Other than that we had no concerns.

The Excellence El Carmen was a wonderful experience overall. It was my first time going all inclusive and I'd definitely do it again! There were 11 restaurants to choose from, so each night was a different experience. The staff was always eager, helpful and friendly everywhere on the property. We stayed in a Jr. Swim up room, which was beautiful. It was large with a comfortable bed, private jacuzzi in the room, and an amazing outdoor poolside patio with plenty of seating. There were a few things I'd nitpick that could have been better. The couch in the room had stains all over it, which is why my cleanliness rating wasn't as high. The shower temperature was lukewarm at best and we couldn't get it hot. The tv in the room didn't allow for any casting and had no streaming apps, so you were stuck with cable and the quality was terrible. Thankfully we didn't watch a lot of tv. Lastly, my partner and I both have Celiac and found that some of the restaurant waitstaff didn't really understand "gluten free" and how critical it was. I was given flour tortillas when I asked for corn and the manager had to come over and apologize. After that, we started seeing one particular woman, her name was Yocasta, who kept an eye on us wherever we were eating dinner to make sure we had what we needed and no further mistakes were made. She was amazing and we had no further gluten issues after she was put on the case. Overall it was a memorable and relaxing trip and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I did not like the food at several restaurants. The portions were small lacking variety and the food was not that good. The room service food was fantastic though.

Excellent resort with plenty of food and fun activities

My husband and I visited this resort for the first time and were pleasantly surprised at our wonderful experience we had. Everything was beyond our expectations, the resort was very clean and well kept, the food at every restaurant was superb, and there isn’t enough good things to say about the staff. Everyone from bartenders, the pool staff, and the entertainment staff were beyond exceptional. Looking forward to our next stay there!!

I have been to the Caribbean several times. This was my first time in Punta Cana. First time at any Excellence Resort. Went with a friend and booked two double beds. When we showed up we were told we were all checked in and I confirmed that the suite was 2 double beds - they told us “oh no, if you book that it is just a request, not promised. We have you in a king room. I refused to accept that and just said I would cancel and find another resort that could accommodate us. So, they were able to find something. Room wouldn’t be ready for another 4 hours thought. We did finally get in. Room was sub-par compared to other resorts I have been to”. This was by far not the worst part of our stay though. 5 days into our vacation by friend got EXTREMELY sick. I assumed maybe too much alcohol the night before and encouraged her to drink as much water as possible and rest. WELL, a few hours later and I was right there with her. EXTREME vomiting, diarrhea, hot and cold chills, shaking. We ended up going to med on site who encouraged us to go to the hospital but we told them we would try to wait it out. They were able to give us some anti-nausea meds for a pricey cost (around $200). About 3 hours later and with conditions getting worse, we made our way back to on-site med and were highly encouraged to get an ambulance to the hospital. We did and were treated with IVs and antibiotics. Doctor told me that because of our blood work, it seemed we had Dysentery! We had not

Amazing property, great staff and EXCELLENT food. It’s always a good time at Excellence El Carmen!

This was our best stay at an all inclusive. Not too loud, right amount of party. The food was pretty good. The only improvement I would suggest would be more drink recipes for the bars. Each bar has their own drink menu but nothing out of the ordinary. I would've enjoyed some real mixologists. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. I was actually sad to say goodbye to some of them. The private pool suite is definitely the way to go here. Or a swim out suite if not the private pool. We will definitely be back!!

excellent resort

This was our second visit to an Excellence Resort and we were not disappointed. The room, property and facilities are absolutely immaculate. The crews work around the clock to keep everything pristine. Even just walking around the grounds is an experience. There are a great selection of restaurants, and while the portions aren't huge, we enjoyed most everything we ate at each one. I do wish there were more "food truck" type options throughout the day. The beach is beautiful and kept clean. There's even a wandering waiter to bring you your drinks of choice. I will add, that they do not skimp on the alcohol when making all of your favorite drinks. My only glaring negative, and the reason for only 4 stars, was that our personal splash pool went uncleaned despite several requests to have it attentioned. They claim we left the "do not disturb" sign on the door. Twice? Housekeeping seemed to have no problem cleaning and restocking our room several times a day, everyday. All in all, an exceptional experience and we will most definitely be staying at Excellence Resorts in the future.

Could have better tasting, seasoned food that doesn’t make people SICK. Clean the food better and clean the hot tub we didn’t even use it due to moldiness. Very beautiful scenery though, thank you for the visit!

You can tell the resort is a little run down, when requested for room cleaning, they didn't give us new towels, they just hung up the ones we put on the ground to be replaced, they rose petals and sand was swept under the bed, the jacuzzi had to be called in to work. If you want a private resort, this is great. Food is alright, but it's not amazing.

Everything about this resort is awesome. I spoke with concierge via email and she helped me celebrate my husband's birthday. We had balloons, cake,fruit ,champagne. The cleaning of the room was excellent-they really work hard.Not only was my junior swim up suite spotless ,they also decorated with the towels and flowers. One day after a fantastic romantic beach dinner we came to our room to find the jacuzzi setup for us with bubbles. Every Employee we encounter said hello and was super Friendly.

Great Staff

Beautiful property with friendly staff, we had a beachfront swim out honeymoon suite and I would highly recommend it. We did see the reviews about food/drinks being subpar and that was the only flaw in the place. Drinks especially just were horrible. Our preference was Lobster House for breakfast/lunch and Basmati was good. Chill vibe, not loud, which is is what we were looking for. Rooms toward the front of the resort are really close to the evening music which is pretty loud, if you're sensitive to that, try to get a room farther back. There are a lot of people walking around trying to see excursions, massages, etc., but they are respectful and don't pester, and generally won't approach if you're looking away, but it's a steady stream. If food/drinks are your prime reason for choosing a resort, I would go somewhere else, but for us, it wasn't enough to skew our relaxation and appreciation of the beauty of the beach and resort overall.
