we stayed at Barbican House as we were going to the Barbican theatre, 2 minutes walk away. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable with plenty of tea and coffee to choose from. Breakfast was good to. Parking was a bit tight but the owner parked the car for me and it fit in well.

Lovely place to stay with very friendly and helpful owners. Absolutely recommend. Room spacious, clean and comfortable with everything you need. 2 min walk to York Barbican and 10 min walk to city centre. We will definitely return. Overall, an amazing 2 night break! Thank you for having us.

The host was genial, interesting, helpful and welcoming. The excellent service ethos was impressive. The room and breakfast were excellent and restaurant recommendations were most helpful. We would happily return to this lovely B&B.

Barbican House was amazing, the owners were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was beautiful so much that we ordered it for our second morning as well. The room was a lovely size and beds were very comfy.

The owner, Mr Durung is such a nice man, friendly, helpful and with an impeccable military background too.
My room was very nice. Lovely furnishings, clean en suite bathroom with a nice shower plus multiple tea tray options and plenty of milk and sugar which is often kept to a minimum at other places. The bathroom toiletries (The White Company) are not cheap and they smell absolutely lovely. The B & B is well situated with the nicest smelling fauna on the exterior corner. Access to the city wall, the Shambles, Minster and all that York City centre has to offer is a convenient short walk away. The only downside for me was the noise of the traffic outside but that's a personal slant as it wouldn't be an issue for a heavier sleeper. All in all, I would throughly recommend Barbican House. The 'No vacancies' sign was displayed while I was there and I can totally understand why it's such a popular place to stay.

we found the property spotlessly clean and the father and daughter team we interacted with to be very friendly and accommodating. Only criticism is that the bed was very soft and hammock-like.

We booked the Barbican House as we had tickets to see Paul Weller at the Barbican. From the minute we arrived they were so helpful. The room itself was spotlessly clean with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We hadn't booked breakfast but decided to order as we arrived, the cost was £15 each per night, it was delicious with fresh fruit and cereal to start and then a full English with gorgeous bacon and sausages. Nothing was too much trouble for the host, he was so lovely.
We had such a wonderful stay we didn't want to go home.
Would definitely stay here again it's a gem of a place.

Lovely family-run B&B, walking distance from the city center. They were kind, helpful & accommodating to our early bag drop-off too. The room is spotless, comfortable & I would return for sure!

Friendly staff helped us get the car parked early in the day before check-in, so we could explore York. The location was fantastic, and the room was clean and adequate.

Barbican House is lovely. Very comfortable bed and room was decorated very nicely. Breakfast with tea was wonderful ( you need to order the night before and it is an extra charge). Durga is lovely and even ordered a taxi for me to get to the airport.

Great location and nice to be able to park there- York is NOT an east place to park. Room was comfortable and clean. A very charming place overall, and very good value.
Not pleased that the breakfast was unavailable to us- as we hadn't booked it. We were late arriving the previous evening, but were not asked about breakfast the next morning. One usually assumes the 2nd B in B&B is a given- even if it costs extra, as is advertised. But we woke up expecting breakfast and were told we should have booked it the night before. The place is renowned for its excellent breakfast, but had to find it elsewhere. Some better communication would be beneficial.

What a wonderful guest house. Our beautiful room overlooked the city walls and gate. We had great beds and were within a short walk to the city center. Durga, the owner, ensured we had all that we needed, including a place to park. We would happily stay here again.

The guest house is perfect location for York centre and the host was very friendly and helpful room was spacious and had very good choice of facilities compared to hotels where limited choice if tea and coffee in room and also bathroom even had ear buds for example we would definitely stay here again if visiting York

A wonderful old home ... family hosts...all attention to details met. Durga and his wife served a delicious breakfast in English style.Room was relatively small as most are but very comfortable with an opening window.. recommend

The hosts are super-friendly and attentive to all guests. My experience was excellent.
The location is at a busy crossroads so there can be noise from traffic in the early hours. Fortunately the owners installed some fans which help distribute cooler air round the premises.

Our inkeeper Durga was an exceptional host. He supplied us with a wide variety of information on local sites of interest, choices of restaurants, etc. At every opportunity he went out of his way to insure our stay was pleasant.
The inn is located in a wonderful location, a very short walk to York's Walmgate and the city center. Onsite parking was a definite plus.
Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Breakfast onsite was delicious and of the highest quality.
Our stay at the Barbican Inn was the highlight of our motoring tour.

If you're after a comfortable stay in a clean hotel close to York town centre, this could be for you. We stopped overnight and had a very pleasant stay, in clean accomodation. The only slight disappointment was breakfast wasn't available. No big deal though and probably a result of Omicron.

I stayed here for one night with my partner. We just wanted a city break in York. It was perfect. Such a pretty room and so cosy. The bathroom was lovely and I had everything we needed. Definitely recommend!!!

My Dad passed away after your 7 day cut-off. I tried to cancel the booking. The hotel owner was very supportive and I have the highest regard for him. You, Expedia, were awful. I will never, ever use you again and would never recommend you to anyone.

This is a nice bnb in York. On a slightly busy road and my room was on the ground floor facing the road, although this didn't disturb my sleep. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was soft and clean. I slept excellently.The host was very accomodating and welcoming and I couldn't recommend him highly enough!Overall a great stay.

The room was lovely and very clean but I do miss it not being serviced and having to ask for additional coffee etc (which we didn't do as we missed the opportunity but managed without). Breakfast was brilliant. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and stay here again if ever in York again.

I traveled to York for a concert at the Barbican and chose Barbican House for its location and beautiful Victorian style. I was not disappointed. The owner waited for me to arrive and was very accommodating. It was a hot day and he arranged - before I arrived - to have a fan in my room. Breakfast was fantastic. I chose the full English breakfast which was served in a well-appointed dining room. We shared wonderful conversation and I feel like I have made new friends.
