I've been staying in hotels for over 50 years and this is the first time I have ever seen a mouse in my room. I had thrown part of a hamburger away in the garbage can upon arrival. My first night I heard noises coming from the swamp cooler (cheaper version of air conditioners) even when it wasn't running & then rustling coming from the area of the garbage can. The next night I hear more rustling this time just from the garbage can area. The next morning around 5:30 AM I was awakened by the noise and turned the light on and saw a small brown mouse jump out of the garbage can and go under the armoire! I was traumatized & tried to call the front desk but the phone did not work in my room. I then went to the office and rang the buzzer several times, knocked on the window & door but no one answered. I finally called the hotel and the owner answered who met me at the office. I asked to checkout immediately as I couldn't stay in a hotel with mice. In his words he said "I will take great care of you and give you a generous credit". He took me to a different building of the hotel that was attached by a common portico and convinced me to stay and promised no mice. The wife of the owner said the exterminator who removed the mouse (mice?) said I must have either brought them in my suitcase (really from FL?) or they came in the door when it was opened. (I never left it open). She also threatened legal action if I told anyone about the mouse. The generous credit was only 1 night out of 5!

Small room but quaint and clean. Close to everything. Right next to the river. Lots of elk in town. Wild ducks and geese everywhere. Beautiful 😍

Great little place to stay, close to everything Cherokee has to offer. Room was comfortable and clean. Bed was comfortable and shower had plenty of hot water. The logde is a short drive to the Casino, dining, shopping and the play, Unto these Hills (not to be missed). Cherokee NC has changed a lot since my visit 60 years ago. Really a beautiful place to be enriched by Native American heritage.

The room smelled musty but it was clean. It was a motel with your car right outside your door. No pool or outside lawn area. One block from downtown but elk walking nearby. Staff was friendly.

Great homemade breakfast to order. Looks a little run down on the outside, but the room was the cleanest I've been in, very well maintained, and comfortable. Ask about the morning elk parade, be careful stepping off the breakfast patio, and don't sit on the bird chair.

The location was great. The receptionist was amazing. Breakfast was delicious. Ice maker out of order. Vending machine did not work. No pillowcases on some pillows. Bathroom rugs needed to be cleaned. No hairdryer. Small amount of toilet paper. Tried to call the office after 6 o’clock and did not receive an answer.

I arrived about 10 minutes after check in began. There was a sign on the locked lobby door to check in at the window, so I did. The young man was friendly and had my key quickly. I entered the room, which was quite clean. There was coffee and a TV, so I was happy. The bathroom was very clean and plenty of towels supplied. The Vending machine and Ice maker were both broken, so I was unable to get water except from the tap once my bottle was empty. The motel was within walking distance of several cute shops, but none were open early enough for me to get coffee or breakfast without a drive over to the main drag. That was ok though, still not too far. I didn't even attempt the lobby breakfast because I was afraid it would be locked still like the evening before. But they said it was offered there as well. No bells and whistles here, but it was clean, affordable and not far from all the action.

Needs updating. Lights needed over bathroom vanity.

This motel did not meet our expectations. This is the first place that did not allow access to the lobby at anytime. However, there was always someone there to fill ice buckets and anything else you may need. I think the lobby is closed so it can be a work area and not because of fear. Breakfast is between 8-9. They serve a tasty breakfast taco with fruit and half of a sweet roll (no second helping). Our room was between two that were rented to people on a monthly basis and we didn’t feel safe with them though they did not bother anyone. The room was older and wasn’t as pictured. I know that we are ones that have a high expectation of cleanliness which this room didn’t meet. Also, we choose the place as the said the play was a 15 minute walk and we are ones that walk two miles per day and thought we’d walk which you can’t do. So I’m saying you may have an enjoyable stay here, but we will look for someplace else.

Rooms were clean. Staff very friendly. Great quality breakfast!

Some of the lights were broken next to the rooms. I needed to have help with check-in as no- one was at the area of our time of arrival. We were not told the hours for breakfast so we missed it. There were two motorcycles parked at the entrance to the office so you had to walk around them.

The room was lovely. We did have some issue getting the door to lock from the outside, but that could’ve been user error. We had called the office to let them know we was going to be later coming in and it was going to be after 10pm, and the gentleman in the office was so nice and super understanding. Definitely will be considering staying here again!

The room is a decent normal room. Does smell musty a bit and the air smelled horrible when turned on. The walls are thin and you can hear everything inside and out. The carpet is dirty and I can faintly smell cigarette smoke like it used to be a smoking room before. It served the purpose but wouldn’t stay again.

My husband and i was going to Cherokee to the casino just for the day but since i was able to have a wonderful friend watch our son at the last minute i decided to surprise him with staying the whole night . So of course it was a quick last minute booking but i quickly googled rooms close.to the casino and they were filling up so.fast everywhere and the prices were sky high but then i ran across this place that looked like it would be alright but looks can decieve they had one room left so i went agead and booked it. Best decision ever made..the rooms were so clean and felt so cozy . The atmosphere was very quiet which is always nice . The prices were great . We didnt pack our tooth brushes but the owner went out of his way to get us one since the stores were. Closed and the best part was the breakfast in the morning . Not ur typical breakfast. Idk what her name was but she was so sweet and had great southern hospitality. She made the perfect size breakfast plate for each guest cooked it right there in front of u and had little pieces of fresh fruit and everythibg on each plate as well and they had a little outside porch with a few tables and chairs to sit at and eat ur breakfast and drink ur coffee while u can sit and see and hear the river and also if ur lucky u might see some elk ! Definitely will be coming back and this will always be our place of choice .

Nice location that has been there a long time. Very well kept. Room was very clean. Many shops right across the road and walkable to others. River right across the road too. Beautiful view of mountains.

Unfortunately the door lock was broken. And the “on-site” representative wasn’t on the property when we were ready to check out. ( drop your key and go)

It was a beautiful hotel, cute little rooms! Right in the middle of town! The only con that we had was the beds were terribly uncomfortable! Otherwise, this place was wonderful!

The room and the bathroom and toilet were clean. The bedsheets were ok clean. The towels were ok clean. It is good for one night solo. The breakfast was great. Tortilla with cheese, eggs, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and some fruits and a small sweet. Only coffee. No tea. Good for 3 stars hotel. But no soft tissues in the room. Overall good. Good but for $155 with tax I expected a little more. If it was $100 , then probably good.

The owners have obviously upgraded this old motel and done a pretty good job of it. The beds were comfy, the wifi and tv worked great, and the bathroom is huge! I’d recommend a grab bar by the tub, though, because it’s a long step down to get out of it. My only concern was the window AC vents, which apparently haven’t been cleaned in a long time. I wiped it down, but they need a good vacuuming.

Fair priced, very clean. Convenient to everything.
