Clean Room … Helpful Staff
10.0
Friendly and welcoming hotel run to a high standard. Spacious rooms with a fantastic restaurant and bar on the grounds. Ample parking also.
Fantastic value for money compared to other more know brands in the area. I would definitely stay again.
The location felt a tad isolated although it is not a very busy area anyway. Having a vehicle felt like a necessity.

lovely character property. not your traditional dime a dozen premier inn / travelodge etc
dinner was AMAZING. up there in my top 3 steak meals I’ve ever had. and I’ve had a lot.
homemade peppercorn sauce was the best I’ve had. chips and onions really nice. and the steak was unfortunately not the best cut but the chef had cooked it perfectly and the seasoning was to perfection.
rooms could be a little more modern - but staff mentioned they were in the process of it already. so don’t let this put you off. very spacious.
made the mistake of sleeping in the bed next to the radiator as I was cold when I got in. but woke up early hours roasting hot (serves me right) room was perfect temp and I had choice of three beds.
no breakfast. at all.
I’d be happy to pay for a room service breakfast even if it was toast / cold croissants with jam etc. or a choice of cereal. had to leave earlier than I would have liked just to get food before my meeting.

Thank you very much for your hospitality, it's a pleasure to meet you, and thanks again for the warm welcome! The food in the restaurant is super. The company in the pub in the evenings is always great!

great food, good beds, helpful staff
Ebbwale, is interesting to see, but not really on the tourist trail. worth visiting to see a mining town and good value

Banging onion soup, staff were friendly and down to earth, no dramas. Just what we wanted. Thanks.

location from airport to Brecon Beacons was good and allowed for an early start
the property doesn’t live up to the photos. the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned and I had to move rooms.

The hospitality, the food was second to none, the staff were excellent very attentive and friendly.
The bedroom needs a bit of attention.

Basic but clean and comfortable room. For the price, it was very good value.
Nice local pub with a small but very good quality menu selection and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I was travelling by motorbike and they offered for me to park the bike securely out of the way right next to rooms, which was appreciated. Excellent location for exploring the Brecon Beacons and surrounding areas.
TV didn't have any signal but this wasn't really an issue as I had mobile devices and the 4G signal was good (no wifi available as far as I could tell).
Would have been nice to have had tea/coffee/milk replenished during my stay (only 2 nights), but again, not a big issue.

Absolutely terrible experience. We arrived at the Castle at 15:30 (booking confirmation confirmed check in was from 15:00).
No one on site except locals helping themselves to beer in an unlocked hotel. The hotels closed and the owner on a stag do we were told! On further inspection the annexe housing the rooms was unlocked with keys hanging in the doors of all the rooms. Clearly a safe and secure place.
When some staff did arrive to open the bar for a few hours we were told we could have a room (kind as we had paid in advance) but there would be no bar and no restaurant. In addition the accommodation would be unmanned overnight. When we questioned this as we had booked so we could eat on site we were told we could just drive somewhere.
Based on the lack of facilities and concerns over safety we explained we wanted to cancel. The man on site did not have the authority to approve this but we were told this would be approved on the owners return. Surprise surprise thus request has now been denied.
I would strongly advise against staying here. It would appear to be managed by people with no idea how to run a hotel.
Everything! Being there we when and other guests arrived to check in, offering the facilities advertised, providing safe and secure accommodation. The list goes on and on.

Nothing
Booked the hotel with pub and restaurant to find it closed on Saturday. The owner was away on his stag-do. Tristan tried to sort things out including booking.com. But they were no help.
Sadly no bed, food or drink just a bed it was. False advertisement!
The room is okay, don't flush the toilet in the night the pipes will make a huge noise and wake everyone up. Never again!

Food was out of this world, one of the best places I have eaten at. Very good pint as well.
Couldn’t get the telly to work but that didn’t bother me. Had I have asked it would have been sorted.

Small details with the Croome but spoke with manager and owner who explained they had just taken over and had refurbished downstairs which was excellent. Bedrooms were A little tired but would certainly go again. If the bedrooms are upgraded to downstairs level then it will be superb

Nothing 🤨
Everything. Room was poor condition couldn't use shower artic cold or kettle hot. WiFi wasnt available on phones or tv (couldn't watch tv) advertised as b&b no breakfast. Staff wasn't helpful with anything we asked. As we found, being advertised wrongly and left a day early as was so poor. Never again!

lovely cozy little inn. quiet area

The bedroom was comfy, spacious, with clean linen.
The building itself looks like abandoned from outside. The picure is not even close to reality. The shower was dirty, the head was broken and couldn't adjust it. The wifi was not working, same story with tv. Both nights we could hear people talking in other room quite loudly, with addition to hearing loud bang in pipes whenever they used their loo. Also, whenever someone from upstairs would walk, you could hear loud floor cracking.
Staff entered our room when we were out, apparently to check the room due to fire downstairs. Fair enough, but left the door opened with our belengings inside.

the staff were brilliant and attentive , the food was brilliant , room was nice and spacious with good tv and bathroom
only thing was the room we booked wasn’t ready when we arrived so we had to get the twin room instead which was no problem as it was a nice room .

The staff where great the bed was clean and super comfy! The food was great and very reasonably priced. Would stay again.

The new owners are lovely, very friendly and made us feel welcome.
Nothing.

At least bedroom was clean and there was hot water and heat.
Exterior a mess, including full waste skip in drive, overflowing ashtray and cigarette butts at top of entrance stairs, unswept entrance lobby used as smoking area, shabby door with broken cat flap that let cigarette smoke into stairway where our accommodation was. Although no restaurant or bar appeared to be open, loud, drunk male party downstairs first night and disco of sorts with loud music and singing second night that kept us awake. The owners should not be taking bookings with the place in such a sorry state.

Hosts are very friendly and welcoming, they will do everything to make you feel like at home. Definitely coming back and suggesting to my friends as well!
Everything was amazing!
