About this apartment rental
Sitting high on a hill, this property has stunning, unobstructed views of the Alsea Bay, the Alsea Bay bridge, the town of Waldport and the Pacific Ocean. This unit is a beautiful, spacious (1000 square feet) one bedroom condo. The main part of the house is used by the owners.
The condo has its own deck and BBQ, a very large bedroom with two comfortable chairs for enjoying the view out toward the ocean, a cozy gas fireplace, and a complete kitchen with a bar to use for breakfast or for setting up your computer to catch up with email. Outside your windows you'll see seagulls and cormorants and maybe osprey, bald eagles or turkey vultures.
The condo has a California king bed and a narrow twin bed in the bedroom. The unit has its own one car garage.
The Oregon coast is an international destination spot, and this home is one of the loveliest on the coast, just finished in June 2019.
The home is just north of the Alsea Bay, on a dead end private road. It is part of a small subdivision, with each lot sitting on 2 acres of land. Very private. Beach access is just a 5 minute drive. All Oregon beaches are public, and beach access is required by law every two miles. Visitors can also walk easily to and over the bridge. It's a one mile walk from the apartment to the town of Waldport.
The bay and the ocean offer a multitude of outdoor activities. You can...
• explore the tide pools at low tide at Seal Rock, one of the best tide pooling spots on the Oregon coast. This is a favorite activity for almost all visitors to the Oregon coast.
• go beach combing, any time on any Oregon beach.
• rent a small boat and go crabbing in the bay for delicious Dungeness crab, or go crabbing from the shore.
• kayak on the bay.
• fish in the surf for ocean perch.
• in season, fish for salmon in the bay or the Alsea River.
• go clamming for bay clams or, in season, for razor clams.
• watch for whales as they migrate in spring and fall.
• while on the beach, watch for seals, and many birds, including pelicans, bald eagles, herons, turkey vultures, cormorants, sandpipers, and, of course, seagulls. Several land in the trees near the house.
• in bad weather, enjoy winter storms from the warmth of the apartment. Many Oregonians travel to the coast when storms are predicted just for their ferocity and splendor.
The area also offers many other activities. You can...
• hike along the Pacific Coast Trail, and in other parts of the Siuslaw National Forest. There is a beautiful trail through old growth Douglas fir trees very nearby.
• ride fat tire bikes on the beach in Newport.
• golf in Waldport at the 9 hole Crestview Golf course. This golf course was designed by Gary's father in the late 1960s.
• visit the excellent Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport.
• check out nearby wineries and breweries. Oregon has 774 wineries and more than 200 breweries.
• ride dune buggies in Florence.
• dine in one of the many restaurants in Waldport, Newport or Yachats.
• shop in the unique stores in these three towns.
Waldport, a 3 minute drive or a 20 minute walk from the apartment, is a small town (population 2,000) with all the essentials...a grocery store, a drug store, a hardware store, and multiple small restaurants. It is 15 miles south of Newport (population 10,000) and 15 miles north of Yachats (population 700). All three towns are popular tourist destinations.
Because the home is on a dead end street we do have exterior security cameras. The unit is non-smoking, and we're sorry, but we can't allow pets.
The house is called Puma Point because during construction the security cameras recorded pictures of a cougar on the property several times, but there haven't been any sightings since the house was finished

This place is amazing in every way! The scenic beauty from every window and the attention to detail when the space was laid out was outstanding! The furnishings, the decor, the amenities and the kitchen necessities were all top notch. We had everything we needed and more! The place is so comfortable and we wish we had planned more time in this area! Seeing whales from the window was an added bonus and the place is more awesome than the pictures can show! Thanks Gary and Kathleen for a wonderful stay!

Our most recent visit was our third in a row and we love this vacation rental! We have stayed in more than 150 rentals over the years and this is our all-time favorite. Gary & Kathleen are very gracious hosts. The attention to detail is incredible. The space is immaculate and well stocked. The view is lovely. We feel very much at home here and plan to return.

The property is located in a scenic area in Waldport and could not be more beautiful. The main house is set back on a private hill overlooking the bay on one side and out to the ocean on the other-- the views are just stunning and we could see the seals on the banks of the bay. The inside of the condo is spacious, perfectly clean and it has everything you need to feel right at home, plus all the things you need to cook meals while you stay (which is nice when you have a longer stay so you don't have to eat out all the time). Gary and Kathleen were the best hosts and helped us with everything we needed! We will be back to the area and will stay here for sure!

One of the best properties we have stayed at! Well appointed with everything you need to feel right at home, comfortable and relaxed. The owners of the property, Gary and Kathleen, are gracious hosts and just really nice people! The views from the deck/windows are incredible. This is the spot as your base camp to explore the Oregon coast!

The owners have created a true sanctuary. We’re a senior couple, rent VRBOs several times per year. Puma Point sets a very high bar for other rentals. It’s almost hard to believe that they share this space, rather than reserving for friends and family. All finishes and furnishings are top notch and comfortable. We slept better here than we do at home. If you’ve been somewhat discouraged by how little is provided by hosts and/or property management companies these days, you’ll find Puma Point is the polar opposite. Kathleen & Gary are welcoming and gracious, providing excellent local guidance. You can believe all of the 10/10 reviews.

This is genuinely the best vacation rental we have experienced, and we travel often. It was well decorated, beautiful views from every room, your own garage parking space, within 30 min to several cute towns, has every amenity you could need and kind hosts. We have been to many barren vacation rentals but this rental felt like you were staying at a friend’s. Extremely well stocked kitchen and bathroom. 10/10 would highly recommend.

I have returned to Puma Point often over past 4+ years because I have found no better rental along the wonderful Oregon central coast. This rental is perfect in every way for myself and my friends that I invite to come with me. The hosts, Gary and Kathleen, excel in making guests comfortable, secure, safe, and with luxury amenities. They are helpful with suggestions for exploring Waldport and elsewhere north and south, east and west of this wonderful central coast area which fortunately has been able to maintain its rural feel. There is so much to do here: good dining, local artisan shopping, beachcombing, hiking, local arts venues for plays, musicals. Also craft and farmers markets. Weather is most always favorable (not too hot or cold). Just a perfect place for rejuvenation, relaxation, fun.

What a privilege to stay in this beautiful condo! Everything about it was elegant, yet comfortable. The condo is an architectural gem, with light streaming in from multiple directions, and the interior is furnished with a keen eye for detail. High end appliances and fully-equipped kitchen, terrific laundry facilities, and a super comfy bed all combine to make this a very special stay. And did I mention the views? Simply spectacular! Gary and Kathleen are gracious hosts who made us feel so welcome. We will definitely return!

I continue to return to this beautiful condo; and plan to often in the future. The hosts at this condo are so thoughtful and accommodating. They think of everything for every age, ability, interests, etc. Ifeel like it is my ‘home away from home’. It is best rental I have used.
There are endless areas of small towns, seashore, mountain hikes, sand dunes, fun seaside shopping, good restaurants, bakeries, bookstores, pubs, breweries, art galleries, holiday events,. You name it and this area is a place for fun, relaxation, just everything a great get away
Should be. I never tire of coming here and will be returning soon"……..

Absolutely PERFECT in every way--super clean, well stocked kitchen and bathroom, very comfortable bed, spectacular beautiful views of Alsea Bay and the ocean even from the shower, and the hospitality of Gary and Kathleen was outstanding. We have been to the Oregon Coast for 30+ years from the Midwest and this is by far the most outstanding place to stay!! We also had the most beautiful weather ever!! Thank you Kathleen and Gary. We hope to return soon.

We were so pleased with our week here during the summer of 2022 we just had to return. The apartment is immaculate & extremely well appointed & stocked. Gary is exceptionally responsive to any inquiries, and along with Kathleen, you couldn't ask for more gracious hosts. They're there if needed, but are never intrusive. We have stayed at over 150 rental units in our travels, & this one is special to us. Very highly recommended.

This property is a rem gem! The owners were on top of everything. They were quick to take care of all our needs with amazing hospitality. The property is first rate. It was beautifully decorated, spotless and had everything we needed and then some. The views from every room were incredible and the proximity to hikes, quaint seaside towns, and beaches was perfect. I can’t say enough about Puma Point.

Wonderful condo in Waldport Oregon with beautiful views of Alsea Bay & Bridge as well as the Pacific Ocean and surrounding beaches. Very quick drive to parking area for Governor Patterson Beach (one of our favorite beaches on the Oregon coast) or explore Alsea bay beaches. Numerous seals in bay especially at low tide sunning on the sandbars. Great central location for exploring the coast. Hosts are amazing!

A friend and I travelled to the coast for an event and had an incredible weekend. Kathleen and Gary were so kind, easily reachable and their rental is wonderful. Perched on a hill, the views are stunning. The condo is beautifully decorated and well stocked, even with little extras including a garage to park the car. I highly recommend.

The owners call this a condo, but I prefer to call it a guesthouse. It’s a spacious apartment, over their garage that was perfect for my working vacation. Lovely views, quiet and secluded. I felt like I had my own little house! The weather was mostly miserable, but I was able to get much work done in a beautiful setting.

This is one of the best places we have ever stayed. We are not very cost sensitive so we have stayed in a number of great properties , but none better than this one. We could not think of a single thing that would have made our ten days their any better. We plan to return sometime in the future. . Hal and Pam.

Excellent stay
This property overlooks the Alsea bay with views of the ocean but is well secluded and sits by itself at the top of Puma Point. The apartment was very clean with with newer furnishings and a comfortable king bed. There is a second bed but was not needed. Everything in the apartment looks new and in good order. All you need to bring is food and your bags and yourself.
Three minutes from Waldport and its shops and a multitude of easy to access beaches.
Gary and Kathleen were very gracious hosts.

Waldport getaway May 2022
I keep returning to this property repeatedly and will continue to do so. It has everything I enjoy and appreciate. Luxury, welcoming, heartwarming accommodation. The activities in surrounding areas include seashore walks, forest hikes, exploring small towns with much character, quiet relaxation and reading at the condo, good restaurants, easy accessibility to everything local, and in all directions north, south, east, west. No where else in my travels domestic and international that have it all like this destination

Anniversary Weekend on the Oregon Coast
Puma Point Condo was everything as described and more - modern; comfortable living, dining and sleeping accommodations; and fully equipped kitchen for those snacks and meals at the condo. While there are some dining options in Waldport it is an easy and quick drive to Newport or Yachats for additional choices.
