The location was good when we eventually found it, central to Tarporley with a good takeaway on your door step.
The cleaner was lovely and very helpful the morning of our departure!
Finding the house was tricky, simpler instructions how to locate would be helpful as it was set back down a drive.
There wasn't enough water for everyone to have a shower. I understand the need to conserve water but on this occasion we all needed to get ready for a wedding which took all morning with little luke warm water being able to be used.
The bedrooms down stairs in the basement have no natural light. They have installed a vent which pipes air in from outside and they have a dehumidifier in one bedroom but you cannot sleep with these switched on. The rooms still smelt musty which concerned me with young children sleeping in there.
The window in one of the upstairs bedrooms was broken so you couldn't close it which was a security risk.
I lost a pair of earrings and knew where they were placed but when I emailed to ask if they could be looked for I didn't get a reply back.

Very clean and very big, exactly as described.

Great cottage, very cosy feel but with plenty of space for us all. (two large families) Really enjoyed the log fire which was great to warm a bottle of wine, we also purchased some local cheeses from the farmers market which were divine!

The location
It was shabby, many facilities were broken eg the bath was not sealed and tiles broken, fridge seal broken, blinds were not installed, window handle was in a wardrobe. The basement was uninhabitable and so we slept on the sofa and the floor. No windows in the basement, fire risk for children. No sign of a carbon monoxide monitor. It felt like it had been neglected for a while. Outdoor area was soulless with no plants at all. Furniture was poor quality. Note said that we could not use the fire which was a pity as it could have made it cosy but I’m not sure I would trust it anyway. Toilet seat was broken in both toilets.

Really nice cottage in the middle of the village. Great location as we attended a wedding at Peckforton Castle which is nearby. We had a lovely meal in the village and then walked back to the cottage for the wedding party to get ready.
Nicely decorated and set out and tons of space for us all (we were a group of 8 ladies). I have just re-booked to bring my family back next month!

The village!
Basement bedrooms and bathroom uninhabitable. Damp smell and nasty smelling water supply. Poor diy/maintenance. Uncomfortable settees. Lack of stair gates, the only one being faulty. V awkward parking.

Clean, great location & value for money

the vehicle access can be difficult when large vehicles are parked on Forest Road. The basement rooms have a damp and musty smell, we only needed to use them for one night so it was not a major issue for us.

Very spacious cottage right in the middle of the village. We loved our stay as everything was clean and fresh, it was a true home from home. The weather was cold when we stayed so we enjoyed a log fire with marshmallows and some wine, which made it extra cozy. The pub around the corner has amazing food and a great choice of local beers. Lots of lovely country walks to burn off some energy! We will be back, next time hopefully with our little dog!

Cottage was in a great location in the village
It was not clear how narrow the entrance to the property was or just how limited the parking was. From the photos it looks possible to park a decent sized family vehicle but we struggled to a)turn in through the archway and b) park. As a property marketed to large groups/families it would be useful to make that clear before booking to make an informed decision, parking on the street or streets nearby is evidently difficult at weekends
Also did not appreciate being told to take our rubbish to high street bins or walk it up the high street to behind a pub! I have never heard of a property requesting this in my life, and for the amount charged for the property guests should not be asked to do this, bins should be available. Bi-weekly collections is not an excuse, as a family of four we just about fill our bi-weekly bin and holiday guests do not create general “life” rubbish as a busy family does. It felt like an excuse to not have to deal with rubbish or bin collections
Also, it’s normal to allow guests to run the dishwasher before they leave and not wait to empty it, we stay in self catered properties 2-3 times a month and have never been asked to do this. It probably explains why we found a lot of dirty glasses and cutlery.
The check out instructions felt a bit like a long and excessive list of orders considering that guests are very enthusiastically told how housekeeping will be in promptly at 10am. This isn’t a cheap property and is actually a nice place to stay, but the tone of the check out list felt a bit like a “tidy your room” lecture from mum!
The property would also benefit from a few small niceties such as soap in at least one of the bathrooms, and some kitchen spray to wipe down counters (a dribble of disinfectant isn’t sufficient). It’s a big shame as the property is nice and we probably would have booked it again as we are in Tarporley several times a year.

Location of the house was fantastic for Oulton Park Race Track. We had a great stay

Location excellent, lots of choice for eating in the evening and a warm and friendly atmosphere. House was as described in terms of bedrooms, lounge, kitchen etc and was well appointed and clean. Towels and bedding well presented. Had been notified that the hot water may not allow us all to shower consecutively but it was fine.
Only finding out when checking in instructions arrived that parking at the property was cramped and would only just take two cars when four of us were travelling from different locations wasn't ideal. I think this should be disclosed earlier. The underfloor heating in the basement bathroom and bedrooms didn't work so had to use electric heater of which there was only one down there.

property was clean and in a good location
parking was very poor
lounge furniture was uncomfortable
downstairs heating didn’t work

large, had everything we needed for a long weekend stay, easy walking distance to high street or drivable to other shops.
Parking was very tight to get into - could fit 2 cars but very tight access.
2 bedrooms were in the basement - which we didn’t need, but kids hung out in a gaming room downstairs.

The location and the space inside the house,
Parking was terrible and difficult, and no where get rid of rubbish and was told to use council street bins or a bin behind a pub down the road.

location was good
the cellar was very dark, driveway was uneven and we tripped up, having to take rubbish home with us and stripping beds, internet went down on sat night and didn’t come on until we had a look at it on Sunday morning

plenty of room
no Wi-Fi code

It was in a nice location near the Main Street through the village, a pretty village with a good range of shops, coffee shops, bars etc. Handy to get out of the village too.
Decent amount of space, not cramped and the beds were comfortable. Even a little space to sit outside with breakfast or a cuppa.
Finishing touches were a bit lacking and the place looks a bit tired. The oven / range was clean and worked fine but more by trial and error as the controls had lost their symbols mostly. No oven gloves.
There was a connection in the ceiling which looked as though it should have a smoke detector, and the kitchen tap was badly fitted. Strange selection of taps overall but I guess that’s personal taste.
Downstairs in the basement the ‘games room’ was pretty superficial without all the bits to get anything to work. And no daylight downstairs so the bedrooms though comfortable could be a bit claustrophobic. The three upstairs bedrooms were fine.
Parking offered enough room for a small-medium size car but anything bigger you’d have to reverse out (as we did) as no room to manoeuvre.
Checking out we were asked to take our rubbish away, put it in on-street public bins or in a local pub’s bin. Seemed a bit cheeky and for a long stay if cooking and eating in I don’t see how that would even be possible.
To be fair the practicalities like parking and rubbish were explained in a message a few days before arrival. But by then there’s not really the chance to change.

We stayed at Tarporley Holiday Cottage for a family get together and we couldn't have been happier. The cottage is lovely, very clean and set out really well, so we all had enough space. The kitchen is amazing, and my brother (a chef) loved using the range oven! My two boys were in their element with the free Wi-Fi, and the kid's area set up in the basement lounge. We all had a lovely time, and the location was perfect as we could walk everywhere (including the lovely little pub around the corner) We will definitely book again. Thanks for making us feel so welcome.

table in garden was grotty and chairs where dirty they are made of material

close to where we needed to be
too cramped for the number of people they say it sleeps
bedrooms in basement very cold as heating not working down there, bedrooms upstairs very hot
front door surround is loose and insecure and looks like it could be kicked in easily
glas swear and plates / cutlery were all filthy and needed washed but no washing liquid or dishwasher tabs as described so we had to go buy these before we could cook

Good, quiet location for family wedding at Peckforton Castle. Kitchen, lounge and dining areas were fine, though not enough sofa space for all of us.
Beds were uncomfortable - lumpy mattresses and adults did not sleep well.
There was an ironing board but no iron - we had to buy one on the morning of the wedding.
One of the bedrooms was unavailable due to a broken bed.
There was a problem with the shower in the shower room - hot water only running in main bathroom which affected preparation for midday wedding. There was no plug in the shower room basin and the light didn’t work.
Mirrors were not provided in all rooms affecting hair-drying and make-up.
The towels provided were thin and poor quality.
There was no general advice for guests on local amenities or details of Wi-fi code.

The door handle to living room came off. We had to fix it. The oven door didn’t close properly. There was no baby safety gates fitted and a musty smell in the basement bedrooms.

We liked the games room and the open plan kitchen lounge. we lived that it had 2 bathrooms and toilet too. We liked that the house was detached. we liked the dining room and that it has extra chairs too. we appricated the humidifoer and heaters in basement as it gets very cold. loved the location. the village is so cute, coop 1 minute walk from house.
We didn't like that there was no microwave!!! the basement was very musty and had to air. it smelled musty too. (hard to breath for guest with asthma that they had to sleep in lounge). we didn't like that parking situation and the lack of chairs in the garden. We didn't like that there was no heating in house(or we weren't told how to turn it on as it gets cold at night)
