Quiet, rural setting. Lovely views. Interesting old building which has retained its character. It was as if we had a whole pub to ourselves. The food was superb with attention to detail. The most enjoyable breakfast at a b and b I’ve ever had. The hosts were accommodating, especially the spaniel.
We thought it was perfect for our stay.

The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Better access for people with mobility issues. My elderly parents found the stairs hard to climb.

Perfect for walking on Dartmoor with lovely Tavistock and Lydford Gorge nearby. Very peaceful, smashing garden; perfect for a drink in the evening before being called in for supper - heaven. The food was outstanding! The breakfast was fresh and varied and kept us going all day. Thought we'd go and eat elsewhere some evenings, but didn't, we had to try everything on the menu it was so good.
A little more attention to deep cleaning might help e.g. the shower extractor fan was full of fluff - but in no way did it effect our stay and the good experience we had. Better when we weren't the only guests now the pub is shut.

Breakfast was very good and plenty of options to choose from.
The evening meal was excellent as were the surroundings as very peaceful.
I asked for a bottle of wine on arrival for a surprise for my Husband's Birthday - it wasn't in our room so my Husband (who didnt realise I had arranged that) asked if we could have a drink and we were told no. I quickly said I had already arranged a bottle of wine but it had been put in the wrong room. The lady apologised and moved us into the room where the wine was already cooling in the fridge. So no real issue as all resolved in the end but the surprise for my Husband was then spoilt a little.

Breakfast was excellent a good choice and beautifully cooked. The room was lovely, warm and well decorated with a beautiful view over the garden.
We rang in the morning to check the booking and at gone 11am the host still didn't know we were booked on Booking.com which we had done early that morning. This has happened to us with previous bookings, hence the phone call.
We rang to say we would be later than planned and were told that was not a problem. When we arrived there was total darkness outside. Luckily we had a torch and knew the building from when it was a pub. We went to three doors which were locked and finally called on the phone and the host turned the outside lights on and we were guided in.
The hosts turned the mattress for us on our second day - very kind, but we still had to put our pillows at the foot of the bed and sleep the other way round otherwise our heads were too low even with three pillows. If we had been staying longer I am sure this would have been resolved.

The breakfast was amazing as were the evening meals. We were made to feel very welcome by our hosts. The location is in the middle of the countryside and the views across the fields were lovely. Our room was on the ground floor which had its own small outside area, which if the weather had been a bit less rainy, would have been lovely for predinner drinks. We would love to visit again.
It would have been lovely to visit for longer. Next time, we will visit in the summertime to be able to enjoy the garden.

The owners are incredibly welcoming and the service is excellent.
A minor point was the bed was too soft for me but others may prefer that.
