Good things: location is unbeatable, right in the middle of the city, perfect. Clean rooms and toilets. Nice common area to stay in the evening.
Bad things: the rooms are the samllest I've ever stayed in. They are called cells, and it's very realistic. The room has a bed, touching 3 walls and a little cabinet. It's noisy, even the workers don't respect the silent hours. The laundry is in the first floor and if you are unlucky and that's your floor you will hear lots of noise. This should be improved.
Overall for the money you pay I think it is a bit too expensive, you pay the location.

Great place. Traveling across Europe for a few weeks with my son. Stayed here for 3 nights. I love the pod type hostels. This place is very clean and the staff was great. Had breakfast there one morning and they made me gluten free waffles that were excellent and I loved that they offered that. I felt safe in the area. Very walkable and right in the heat of old town. Lots of different ages there which was great. Thank you

The hostel is wonderful! Very well located, with a kitchen, bar, lounge areas, and helpful staff. The accommodations are comfortable, have several bathrooms, and are very good. The pod beds are separate and have plenty of privacy. Very safe, there are passwords to enter and exit. I only have praise!

It was my first ever solo trip and the stay was one of my concerns.. but this place blew my mind . I didn’t had any expectations.. but this place is best for solo travelers …

It’s great for solo travellers like me. The location is the best part of this hotel as it is in the heart of the old town, which is just walk away from the train station and to other touristy places in Old Town such as the Edinburgh castle and St. Giles cathedral

Perfect location, felt very safe and was in walking distance to all the attractions. Staff were great.

Second time staying at CoDE and loved it again! Private and comfortable pod style dorms, clean and spacious bathrooms/showers, well equipped kitchen, and a great common area. The hostel also offers social events like walking tours, and whiskey and beer tastings (some free, some paid). Very well located right on the high street so it’s only a 5 min walk from Waverley and right in the action.

so clean, perfect location, and so lovely!

The bed was very comfortable. Our double en suite room was very very small. The location was very good. The atmosphere was very woke and seems somewhat proud at pushing that in your face.

I was expecting a dirty noisy place filled with young travellers. It was bright, clean, the pod was lovely, very comfortable. Very quiet considering 8 in the room. Would highly recommend

Love my pod. I was in an all women pod. Wish I could have fit in a Gin Tasting. Centrally located to the Royal Mile. It was just what I needed for this trip. Easily walkable to the train station

It's a pod hotel, so for what you pay, it's excellent! The bathroom in the basement could have needed a little clean and had a broken toilet, but I'd happily stay there just for the convenience, price and friendly staff! Thanks!

Great location and staff. Layout was a little confusing.

Perfect location for exploring Edinburgh. The pods are private and cosy, great luggage storage, bathrooms are clean, spacious and the showers were wonderful. Welcoming and helpful staff throughout my stay.

Amazing! the best hostel I've ever hosted in my life.

The pod room, reception, and bathroom were very clean. However, the kitchen area was absolutely disgusting. Food crumbs were all over the tables and floors and the sink was backed up with food particles.
The bed was comfortable and the blue light in my pod was helpful so I could see what I was doing but wasn’t overwhelmed my a bright white light. The security codes to get to the pod room made me feel safe. The location of this hostel honestly can’t be beat.
There was no hot water for my final night and day (frustrating, but not their fault). I purchased the late check out for £10 so I could have a final explore of the city and rest before leaving, but my when I returned my code no longer worked for the door and my locker and my bed had been remade, so I wasn’t able to rest before leaving. Because of that, it was a waste of money that could not be refunded.
To take people’s stay to the next level, keep a closer eye on the cleanliness of the kitchen area and be mindful of visitors who have a late check out.

I was there during The Fringe so it was packed, but the rooms were still quiet and everything was still clean. Only complaint was the bathrooms ran out of toilet paper frequently.

Overall, it’s right on Royal mile making most old city easily accessible for an early start. Multiple door locks makes the stay feel very secure for travelers. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The location is right on the royal mile, so you can get to everything and transport very quickly. The ‘pods’ don’t have doors, so it is more like stay in a hostel.

Overall, it’s an amazing property, right in the middle of the Royal mile makes it walkable to majority of the places to see in Edinburgh. The pods experience was great as they are cozy and not claustrophobic at all. I even made a friend while I was staying there. I just felt it was a bit expensive I paid around £85 per night, which is not cheap. But overall, great place to stay, highly recommended!

We visited Edinburgh because of the Tattoo and The Code was the only Hostel with a double bedroom still available.
We honestly did not expect much, but it turned out to be an absolute gem!
Very nice/respectful/helpful staff, very clean, amazing offers like a free guided city tour (Sara was the best!) and the overall atmosphere was absolutely great.
The Code used to be the court house jail back then and this theme is present everywere.
Our room literally just fitted the normal double bed and basically nothing else.
It was a great time and we will definitley stay there again!
Many thanks!

I didn’t really know what to expect from a pod dorm as it was my first time. But I was pleasantly surprised. The hostel is really well located, you can’t beat it. The discount for parking was really convenient. Although a bit far from the hostel (10-15min walk) the car park is still very central. The staff was very friendly. They have free many events going on. The kitchen and lounge are quite nice. As for the dorm it was quite clean, the pod was ok, the cupboard isn’t very big but it will for your valuables. And people were very respectful, the room was incredibly silent and I had a very good night. So all in all a very good experience!

Stay was great. Had a bit of a worry with shared showers but not at all! Everything was clean and there’s QR codes where you can request a clean up of toilets or showers, tho I didn’t need to report anything
The hotel should clarify that all luggage storage is available for all guests, so if you arrive before check in (which they won’t allow early check in) and you don’t bring a lock for your luggage is just there for all guests access without security, please take this into consideration
