Excellent location, able to walk into Thirsk. Free parking space
Cleanliness could be better, mould in shower, stained tea towels, crumbs in toaster etc. Better cleaning system required. Candles with batteries not working, which was a shame.

The cottage is cosy, beautifully clean, thoughtfully supplied and extremely well located for access to the town sights and amenities whilst still being peaceful.
Allison was also warm, kind and very helpful. She was so understanding with my mum who had a difficult journey, got into quite a state and needed help before I arrived.
Nothing.

Property was found as listed, really nice place to stay.
Unable to park van in space available, as wouldn’t fit through archway in between buildings.
4.8
The property was lovely , very quaint little cottage in a perfect location for the town. It was clean and well equipped. Would definitely book again if I was staying in the area
Nothing really but think driving through the archway to the property would be a squeeze in a bigger vehicle
4.8
Lovely cottage. Very clean, comfortable and warm. Great location too.
I'm writing this for future bookings. The parking is good, right outside the door but a little tight through the arch way. Park the way you go in. Don't turn around first, makes it a little awkward.

Property was in a great location. Property was spotlessly clean and very quiet at night, despite being close to a main road. Property was well equipped and the parking was a bonus. Loved the welcome gifts from the host - lovely touch
Nothing - couldn’t fault it at all
4.8
Property was central for what we needed. Shops and pubs a short walk away but far enough where it was nice and quiet.
Everything was great

If we could give this place 12 out of 10, we would. Alison was helpful beyond expectation, answering our many questions, recommending places to eat. Taxi firms, etc.It is spotless, has all you need, and We are so impressed we booked a return visit before we left.

The old surgery owner Alison was very pleasant and helpful with everything. great person and will come back

The cottage is in a fantastic location - very close to town and the race course but very quiet.
The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for the shower. The whole property is very comfortable, clean and welcoming.
It was our first visit to Thirsk which is a wonderful place with lots of pubs, restaurants and a great farmers market!
There is parking outside the cottage through the archway to the mews. Our car was too large to fit easily through the arch but there is parking just one minute away which was very safe and secure so it was not a problem at all. This certainly should not deter people from booking this lovely cottage.

The cottage was beautiful, everything we needed, every room was clean and the furnishings were lovely. Allison had thought of everything, all we needed to do was take ourselves. Will certainly be visiting again later in the year. Have reccomended it to all our friends and family.

The property was beautifully presented and very clean. Allison was really clear with information about how to find and enter the property, and we received some lovely welcome chocolates once inside!
Property location was perfect, right in the centre of Thirsk and close to supermarkets, shops and cafes. just a few minutes walk to get some coffee and breakfast each morning!
Would definitely recommend staying at The Old Surgery for a weekend in Thirsk or to explore the local area.

Brilliant and very helpful host. Great location and wonderfully decorated and maintained cottage. Provided everything that we needed.
All very good and exceeded expectations. Car parking a little tricky at cottage - would be a tad nervous with a big car but a very minor point as plenty of parking options close by.

Great location and everything we needed was provided

Stayed with our daughter for two nights for a wedding nearby, but would love to return for longer. Great location and very nice cottage - clean and comfortable with well equipped kitchen and sitting room. Daffodils and chocolates much appreciated. Private parking by the door requires a little manoeuvring and care but we managed ok with our Seat Leon estate.

Lovely cozy, well furnished cottage in a great location 😃

Excellent location, less than 100 metres from the James Herriott centre and across the road from the Thirsk Museum and a short walk to the Market Square where there are lots of nice shops, pubs and restaurants. The property is immaculate and the host Allison was tremendously helpful and friendly. Whilst I was there there was a snowstorm and she knew I was picking a vehicle up from a local garage after 2pm so she called me to say I could check out in the afternoon instead of the morning. Fantastic service and I can't recommend this property enough!
Nothing, it was ideal for me.
4.8
The location - just yards from the James Herriot Museum and a short walk to the town centre/marketplace.
The house itself - it's lovely and charming, I could happily live in it! The beds are comfortable, the shower is excellent and all the rooms have nice decor. The welcome chocolates were much appreciated too! I would gladly stay again if visiting Thirsk in the future.
Not a dislike, but parking right outside the house is a bit tricky and could be awkward for a large car. We managed in our Ford Focus with a bit of manoeuvring.

Location was excellent, close to the town centre and its pubs shops restaurants museums and markets. The cottage was exceptionally clean and larger than I anticipated and was comfortable and very well equipped. It had a washer drier and dishwasher. The kitchen and bathroom were moden and there was an excellent shower. There were lots of homely touches and the whole layout had been thought out carefully by the owners who obviously know what they wanted to achieve. Thank you Allison.
The neighbours had put outside furniture on their frontage border so it was tighter than necessary to parralel park. But I managed and there was a car park close by over the road if you have a longer vehicle.. I was not expecting free parking anyway so this was a bonus and it would not deter me from rebooking.

Quint, well presented, clean property with everything you need for a great stay. Decorated for Christmas which was lovely. Thrisk is a pretty market town with plenty to offer inc The James Herriot Museum yards away from the property
The property also has an electric vehicle charging point
We had a lovely stay
The parking is through a narrow archway leading to a back yard with some parking/turning area however the cottage’s parking space is literally outside front door (parallel parking)it’s a difficult spot to park in we had a medium sized car
The owner of b&b is on the case if you park in ‘wrong’ place
This was the only negative to an otherwise lovely stay.

Lovely decor and high quality finish - lots of nice Xmas touches! Well equipped kitchen, good shower and good WiFi reception. Easy to find and convenient location - 2/3 min walk from village centre (plenty of eating places) and central to many sites (York, Harrogate, Dales). Quiet area. Absolutely lovely cottage!
Parking/access was a little tricky with a bigger car but managed. Watch out for low/raftered ceiling areas in bathroom and bedroom - need to be a bit spatially aware!!

very cosy, nice little touches, ideal location
Very tight parking (didn’t risk it) but paid parking opposite so wasn’t an issue

the property is exceptionally clean. negotiable stairs for our 85 mother. Everything we needed for our stay and more
4.8
the cottage was just perfect, close to all the amenities of the towm and a short walk to Tesco. we had a great time exploring the area and to come home to a cosy cottage where we could cook or have take-away was just perfect.
it is not a critisicm but the bed was very soft and did not do my back any good, a choice of hard or soft pillows would be a great bonus. but this is individual choice. everything was really good, lovely hot showers.

Close to the centre.
