Location, rooms, atmosphere
Boiler broke down, though repaired asap

All the staff were very friendly, and helpful.
The restaurant staff were exceptional, they were extremely busy but kept smiling.
We had dinner and then the breakfast the next morning. No problems at all.
Nothing to complain about. Everything was really good.
I would recommend getting the App pre arrival, as discounts can be applied, which I missed out on.
4.5
Very friendly staff.Nothing was too much trouble.Would particularly mention the manager who gave excellent service and always had a smile.

Bed was comfy. Room clean and everything worked as it should. Parking was available. Access to property outside hours was convenient.
Creaking floor boards and paper thin walls didn't help a good night's sleep. Breakfast was disorganised, slow and annoying rather than disappointing. We finally got served over an hour after we arrived to eat and then the poached eggs were overcooked and there was a hair on the plate. All seemed to lie with the man 'serving' who didn't communicate the delays, wasn't dressed to be identified as staff or seemingly trained to know what to do. Made us late for our plans and spoilt our stay.

We were immediately made to feel welcome. There is a lovely friendly atmosphere here and the family room we stayed in was perfect for us.
Couldn’t fault our stay, we didn’t want to be in the centre Harrogate but not too far away so this was a great location for us. We would definitely recommend and will stay here again.

The staff were welcoming and efficient with a well rehearsed informative speech whilst being shown to the room . The room was a large double room and extremely clean. Dinner was typical pub grub and the breakfast was plentiful
Breakfast was lovely, a Full Traditional Breakfast, Bacon, BIG Sausages, Mushroom, Tomato, Beans, Hash Browns, Scramble Eggs, copious mounts of coffee and juice.
The toilet disinfectant! It was yellow, so I couldn't decide if the loo, albeit extremely clean, if it had been flushed. it may be an idea to change your brand.
My evening meal was tasty but not as described on the Menu - Baked Scallops (2) King Prawns (0) Prawns (3), no Garlic in the sauce which I didn't mind as it may have detracted from the taste of the Scallops and Prawns. Chunky Ciabatta nice to soak up the cheesy sauce.
Hunters Chicken Schnitzel, although very tasty did not have any crispy bacon as described on the Menu and they were certainly NOT triple cooked chips. If anything they were frozen chunky chips. So again, although tasty, I was a bit disappointed in it not being described as that on the Menu.
Breakfast - tasty, but a bit disappointed that there was no sign of any cereals or Fruit.

Very accommodating staff who did their best to help us check in/ get keys early as we were off to a wedding nearby.
Beautiful building, our room was gorgeous.
Wish we'd have been able to spend more time at the Kestrel! Hopefully we'll be back

The room, the food, and the staff were excellent. We ate at the restaurant every night for our three-night stay and couldn't fault any of it.
The check-in procedure was a bit confusing. Because we had originally booked two nights and then added a third, the hotel booking system had some kind of error. We got a phone call at 10:00 pm on our third night asking us to go to the desk and book in. It was a bit confusing, but they soon sorted it out.

Food was excellent particularly breakfast. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The atmosphere at the inn was really relaxed and friendly.
Can't think of anything!

The room
We have stayed before and all has previously been good. This trip was booked in exactly the same manner and firstly the room was only made up for 2 when there were 3 of us. Then they lost our dinner reservation despite me having a text confirming. Then, on this occasion, for unknown reasons breakfast wasn’t included when it should have been but we weren’t told this until after the first day when we had already had it and the bill put our room.

Everything, the location, the place itself, the staff, just wonderful.

Lovely spacious room, beautifully decorated in a fab little pub. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was really clean.
Unfortunately noisy guests arrived back after 1am and woke us up – that wasn't the hotel's fault but due to the creaky floors on the landing areas it was really loud and I struggled to get back to sleep.

very warm and cosy and spotlessly clean.

the facilities and decor of the room where great. the pub was very homely and welcoming. the breakfast was delicious. staff very helpful. the location was very handy as it was 5 minutes from Knaresborough
nothing to do with the property but the people who stayed next door to us was extremely loud and banging until 10:30 on the night and we could hear everything. our room was right next door to the door that leads to the pub so you could hear the door going a lot during our stay with people coming and going from the pub downstairs. the sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable also
4.5
Comfortable room with excellent shower. Very ambient restaurant and food was very well cooked. Friendly staff.
Everything was fine - wifi went down a few times but suppose that was the environment. Very busy in car park and pub on a Sunday.
3.5
Our room was spacious & clean. The pub was very nice, warm & welcoming staff & food excellent
The noise - from the early hours(well before 6.30am) we were disturbed by noises from both below(presumably staff in the kitchen area)& outside - glass bottles being emptied into recycling bins, general noise from what I assume must be prep for breakfast. Not a good night's sleep unfortunately. Everything else was lovely.

The Kestrel is one of those places which is really a home from home with cosy fires, excellent food and fabulous staff.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and full of character. They are clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need for an overnight stay.
We have stayed here on a number of occasions this past few months and it has always been consistently fabulous, never a disappointment.
The staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
There is nothing not to like .

The place is lovely and the food is very good and reasonably priced. The staff are lovely.
The room was nice but felt it was expensive for what it was. The bed was hard and I found it uncomfortable but that is probably personal choice.
