Fantastic hotel in the heart of the old town

Staying at El Convento in the Old San Juan area was definitely the best decision we could have made for our short trip in the Island. If you want to experience the historic and beautiful Old San Juan vibe, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. This hotel is absolutely perfect for couples as it is a very romantic and appealing property. The rooms are very well kept while maintaining the charm of the historic building. Because of our short trip, we did not get to try any of the dining options, however, these looked great. Some of our favorite aspects of our stay was our Superior Queen Deluxe Room, rooftop view and pool and complimentary coffee and water for guests every morning. They also have complimentary wine&cheese tastings every evening. The property is a great location to walk around Old San Juan’s iconic landmarks. We did not have to walk more than 12 minutes to get to everything. Of note, Uber is the main method of transportation for outside the Old SJ area (quick Uber to the beach) recommended as the historic city does not have as much parking space. Be aware that the hotel is a great location for weddings and other events. Because of the building layout, you will probably be able to hear the music if there are events going on in the hotel. Despite of this being noticeable for us, it did not impair our ability to sleep and relax but it’s worth noting.

Worth every penny if you want to enjoy Viejo San Juan. Staff was always willing to help and provide suggestions if needed. The hotel is one of a kind in architecture and decor with restaurants and a bar in the courtyard. No complaints and would love to visit again!

The history of the hotel is very unique. It is very well located with easy walking distance to El Morro, the port, restaurants and shopping. The staff is courteous and responsive. My only issue is service at the hotel restaurant is incredibly slow, it took a full 2 hours for breakfast. Perhaps it was just a bad day. I would stay at El Convento again.

Beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The elevators were not working to our floor so we needed help carrying our luggage. Parking is non existent, so we had to drive around and thankfully found a parking garage with available parking space. The parking is a little difficult to find if you drive your own car and or go on a popular time of year. The hotel overall is a beautiful place, and very clean and you can literally walk everywhere from there.

Awesome experience every time. Polite & professional staff, from front desk to housekeeping to wait staff and even the gardeners! This stay we experienced for first time a tropical storm(Ernesto) while at El Convento. We were very fortunate to be there. The back up power generator kicked on automatically & it was like the power never went. For this reason and watching news about power loss & floods, we stayed extra night, comfortably. Excelente! 👍

Upon check out we wanted to go to the pool area and were denied access. Restaurant is ok as main restaurant closed down. We were denied late check out after we were told to call the morning of check out. Room was amazing

The staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect for exploring Old San Juan.

We had a great stay at El Convento. It was super clean, the rooms were very quiet at night, and the staff was outstanding and were quick and friendly to assist. The hotel restaurant is tasty for a quick breakfast. We would definitely stay here again next time we come to Old San Juan.

Beautiful place! Nice staff, very helpful, comfy bed and gorgeous room. The view from the top is priceless and the kitty roaming around was the cherry on top! Highly recommend.

Wonderful

Like the fact rhat from the hotel you can basically walk around all Old San Juan with no transportation needed.

All the workers were helpful and polite to help enjoy our stay in the hotel and in old San Juan.

Very accomodating with our 3 rooms and 2 todlers. Loved the wine & cheese at 5pm every day. Pool was perfect size for toddlers.

All of the staff were great, service was incredible, and location was impeccable. Only drawback is the small size of the pool.

My second stay at this beautiful, romantic, transporting hotel, location can’t be beat, service consistently thoughtful and professional, restaurant is lovely, wine hour on the terrace features views and really good cheese, not a single off note, just a really wonderful place to stay.

Air conditioning very bad and noise Screen failure

This hotel was amazing! Very beautiful and exactly what I was looking for while staying in old San Juan. The rooms had everything we needed and room service was great! The AC was amazing!!! The staff were so nice and accommodated unexpected changes we encountered with no issue! Cute bar area and pool was super cute on the rooftop and oversees the ocean and city! Will definitely be staying here on my next trip!

A charming, unique, historic building with very comfortable and up-to-date amenities in the best location.

The hotel is beautiful, and taken care of really well. Only issue is the service was slow in the hotel bar.

This was our first-time visiting San Juan, PR The 3-night stay at the Hotel El Convento was very relaxing and peaceful due to the friendly staff as well as the limited number of rooms which kept the number of visitors wandering around small. My wife appreciated the free morning coffee station and the complimentary wine each day. We would highly recommend the hotel.

The hotel is beautiful! Great location in the city with plenty to do close by. The rooms are very nice and clean with a modern bathroom. Comfy beds. Great view. We received excellent service from everyone we interacted with. The 5p reception was nice. We definitely would stay here again!
