About this house rental
Located in downtown Bar Harbor, just two short blocks from the Village Green, our house is the perfect getaway for a couple, a family, or a group of friends! The in-town location means nothing is more than a 10-minute walk from the front door, including restaurants, shopping, the waterfront, and the Island Explorer (free) shuttle buses - with numerous stops within Acadia! This historic "cottage" (ca. 1900) was designed by noted regional architect Fred L. Savage. There's even an historic marker at the end of the driveway!
New last year: AIR CONDITIONING!!! Each of the three bedrooms upstairs now have wall-mounted units that provide cooling (and heating) controlled via remote.
The house itself is two stories, with the bedrooms upstairs and living areas and kitchen on the ground floor. We have a large front porch with a picnic table, several Adirondack chairs, and a grill is available. The kitchen is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, a four-burner gas stove, two-basin sink, and a dishwasher. Small appliances include a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker.
We have plates, utensils, cups and glasses, pots and pans, and anything else needed to make and eat a meal. The dining room showcases the original wood floors and paneling, and a bay window with a bench seat. The dining room table can accommodate four people with ease, and the picnic table is a comfortable six.
The master bedroom looks out onto one of the largest non-waterfront yards in town, and features a king size bed, two closets, two dressers, and two accent chairs. There is a door to an adjacent balcony "sun-room" with a huge window overlooking the side yard and trees. The balcony can also be accessed from the middle bedroom, which features a queen-sized bed, closet, and dresser. The third bedroom has two west-facing windows for great afternoon light, a full-sized bed, closet and dresser. The bathroom upstairs is also west-facing, with a tiled counter-top, and a tub/shower. The linen closet is stocked with extra pillows and blankets, additional sheets, and plenty of towels.
There is TV and an AppleTV you may log into, and house-wide WiFi internet. The password is located on the refrigerator. A travel crib is available for guests with infants. Smoke/carbon monoxide detectors are placed throughout the house, and there are two fire extinguishers (one upstairs, one in the kitchen). A washer and dryer are located in the basement, should you need to do a load.
We have plenty of FREE off-street parking; a hot commodity in Bar Harbor! The yard is big; a bit shy of a half-acre. The house is in a residential neighborhood, but is only one lot removed from Main Street. Atlantic Avenue is not a through-street, so traffic is minimal. People do tend to walk down the street because it's pretty, and because the historical marker at the end of the driveway is part of a Town-wide history project.
If you want to explore Acadia, the best option is the Island Explorer shuttle system - pandemic dependent. They are FREE (donations accepted), they have dedicated stops at all major points of interest, and the driver will stop and let you out along the way if you ask. The shuttles have bike racks, but those fill up quickly, so it's good to be early. The shuttle "depot" is at the Village Green, next to the fire station.
On the hall table guests will find a book of local recommendations on everything from where to get the best breakfast, to where to rent bicycles (The Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop), and includes recommended hikes, and points of interest.
CONSIDERATIONS
If you want to smoke, please do so outside and away from the house. The house is adjacent to a working bed and breakfast; please try to observe quiet time after 9pm. Individuals with mobility issues may find the stairs up to the porch a challenge, as there is no handrail.
A bicycle touring company, Vermont Bicycle Tours (VBT), stores extra bicycles in the garage adjacent to the house. The guides occasionally come down the driveway to load/unload bikes, and we have a schedule of those occurrences listed in the house, for your information.

We had a lovely time in Bar Harbor. The house is located in walking distance from everything in Bar Harbor and few minutes driving distance to Acadia. You can also take the shuttle bus into the park that is 3 minutes walking distance.
Stephanie has been a wonderful host. She replied immediately to any questions and had great information about the house and the town compiled in a binder. Also a good selection of information material for the national park.
The house is cozy and had plenty of room for 5 people, but it is a little dark since there are trees and other buildings around it. It is a bit eclectic and has lots of personality.

Our family had a wonderful stay here! It was the perfect place for us. The home is located in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor, walkable to everywhere in town. We really enjoyed the front porch and loved eating breakfast out there. The house was a fine old home, incredibly clean and well taken care of. There is even a trundle bed in one of the bedrooms so our kids were able to share the room without having to share the bed. The host was incredibly responsive and helpful. She is very organized and helped make the stay very comfortable for us.

A great spot to stay when visiting Acadia and the surrounding area. The convenience to downtown Bar Harbor is unmatched. It is a serene spot, but is also so close to downtown. Cannot recommend enough!

We loved our weeklong stay in this gorgeous home. It has been lovingly kept and had everything we needed and more for a comfortable family vacation. The owner’s binder full of suggestions for things to do, as well as instructions, were clear and helpful. We loved relaxing on the porch, steps away from Main Street but also tucked away in our own quiet space. A perfect place to stay while enjoying Bar Harbor and Acadia.

Four kids and three adults had room to spare in this gracious old home in Bar Harbor, walking distance from EVERYTHING in town, including the ocean. Set back from the street and surrounded by an acre (?) of lawn, this charming home was well equipped with all that you need; generous supplies of linens, a washer and drier, toiletries, two coffee pots etc. The rooms all had such character; the three bedrooms were lovely and had special connecting spaces. The dining room was a masterpiece of architecture and wood panelling. We had a lovely long weekend exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor and truly enjoyed our stay in this home.

This property was one of the best we have stayed at! The home is beautiful and well taken care of. The location was perfect, easy walks to the whole town. Would definitely stay here again if we ever get back to Bar Harbor.

My family and I stayed at Stephanie’s property for a long weekend away and it was wonderful! The location of the property was right near town, but still a little off the main street so it was comfortable and quiet. The home provided us with plenty of space for all of us (5 grown adults) to stay and hang out. Stephanie was great the entire time and provided quick responses along with recommendations.
I would absolutely stay here again as I know I’d have a fantastic trip!

Loved Bar Harbor and nearby Acadia. Home is ideally located for walking to shops/restaurants in Bar Harbor. House is comfortable and host is excellent to communicate with. Showers are small and could use better pillows but overall an enjoyable stay despite Hurricane Lee!

What a great home! Located just where we needed in town. Walking distance to shops, dining, shore path & the wharfs. Stephanie was so welcoming to our family and very easy to reach when we had any questions. The extended family members were very jealous of our setup. We will most certainly return to Atlantic Avenue.

We loved our stay in Bar Harbor. The house was exactly as described and the location was perfect. Everything in town was walkable and Acadia was a short 10 minute drive away. The AC in the bedrooms all worked and having s coffee shop right behind the house was perfect for the mornings. We would definitely stay again!

My family and I loved our stay in Stephanie’s beautiful home. 5 adults, 3 kids all stayed there very comfortably. The home is gorgeous and set in middle of town, just one road away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. It still feels very quiet and private, though, and there’s a huge yard that the kids loved playing in all week. Highly recommend if anyone is traveling to Bar Harbor!

The location couldn’t be more perfect right in town but private and quiet. My daughters, their husbands and me and my husband had a great trip a grill to cook out catch from fishing all we needed. The picture doesn’t do it justice it’s a very nice older home with and excellent location. Right in the town but with a huge yard and privacy. When we go back I won’t stay anywhere else. A gem there was a small problem with one room air conditioner is why it wasn’t a total 5.

Great location! House is tucked in the block so it was nice and a little quieter but also a very short walk to the Main Street with all the shops and restaurants. Chocolatte was a quick 150’ walk away through the alley for morning coffee too!

The house is clean, spacious, and very close by to town which is why we chose this place. It had everything we needed. During our stay, it got a bit chilly at night as there was a draft coming into the bedroom but the blankets and king size bed made it easy to forget. We very much enjoyed the stay. Thanks for hosting!

This house was ideal for my husband and I, as well as our adult children! It was minutes from Acadia, walking distance to restaurants, shopping and bars! We loved the charm of the century home. It was clean and perfect! Communication with the owner was quick and easy. We had a minor blown fuse sort of problem, easy to work with. We loved having access to laundry. Highly, highly recommend! It was picture perfect for every stage and age that was in our party of 5! ❤️

Previously I had been hesitant to stay right in Bar Harbor in August because of crowds and this house is right off a Main Street but you would never know how close you were to the hustle and bustle of downtown Bar Harbor. House was great and had a great big lawn to play on. We had a lovely time. Owner was helpful with my questions. Overall a great experience and I would recommend it to others (it was amazing to walk to shops and not have to find parking)

Perfect Place for First time to Bar Harbor
Loved everything about this charming home. It’s older but the charm far outweighs the quirks of an older home. Super comfortable and a great place to
come home to after Acadia. Walk to everything in Bar Harbor

The Perfect Place to Stay
This house was the perfect place for our family. It was steps away from town and a quick drive into the park. The house was clean and offered the perfect amount of space for our young kids to spread out. We can't wait to come back!

Great stay
Wonderful older home with character. Property enjoys privacy despite proximity to Bar Harbor. Care needs to be taken with house, e.g. wood floors in kitchen etc. Lovely home. We enjoyed tremendously. Thank you

June ACADIA vacation.
It is a charming , old house , a block off main street in Bar Harbor. The house is in easy walking distance to shops & Restaurants in Town & easy driving distance from entrance to ACADIA which was the main focus of our visit. There is parking right in front of the house.Stephanie communicated promptly and was very helpful. Two cons were: the shower on the ground floor bathroom is small,it is for all practical purposes unusable; We had some 85 F days and absence of AC was felt; there were only 2 Fans and they were quite dusty.
All in all we enjoyed our stay in this property on our visit to Acadia.

Wonderful Stay for First Bar Harbor Visit
Great house for entire family with parking for multiple vehicles. Old house with great architecture, but well maintained including modern conveniences. (Cable/WiFi, etc.) Wonderful location within town of Bar Harbor a short walk to POIs, shops and restaurants. Host Stephanie was very responsive to all communications and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. Including providing welcome beer in fridge and K-cup coffee for our morning. Had few chilly days and she arranged oil delivery to ensure we stayed warm. Thorougly enjoyed the stay.

Great home; great host; great location
We couldn't be happier with our choice of lodging in Bar Harbor. Was so nice to easily walk to everything in town - not once did we worry about searching for parking or meter-feeding. Very comfortable house with plenty of room. Our communications with Stephanie proved she really cared about us enjoying our vacation. Access to the park was extremely convenient from this location too. Heck, we were even able to borrow a telescope from the local library and use it in the home's expansive yard.

Great choice for a perfectly situated stay in Bar Harbor.
Had a great time in Bar Harbor, staying at this house. The host Stephanie was very welcoming and attentive to our needs. The house is in an ideal location- just steps from Main Street and the center of Bar Harbor. It was very clean and had all of the amenities we needed. The only thing that was problematic was the lack of air conditioning during what we hear was unseasonably warm weather (we stayed the week of June 7)— the upstairs was uncomfortably warm. I’m sure it’s not a problem the majority of the year, but it’s something to consider if the weather is very warm when you’re planning to be there.

Wonderful experience!
The home is absolutely beautiful and you can not beat the location! It is so close to everything and yet very peaceful and quiet. Our kids loved running around the huge yard. The home has everything you need and it is so charming. Stephanie is wonderful at communicating and we really appreciated her recommendations. We will definitely come back!
