This lovely cabin directly on the sound has amazing views and easy access to the water should you want to dive in. John, the owner, was super helpful, and he has a paddle board for your use and a great fire pit by the water. We truly enjoyed our stay, including the location, views, great beds, beautiful great room and kitchen. Looking forward to our next stay.

Can’t recommend this place enough. The views and location are a dream! We came to visit Acadia National Park which was an easy drive, but we could easily have enjoyed a vacation never leaving the cabin. Our kids loved heading down to the shore and going out on the paddle board. We loved reading in the hammock, or drinking coffee by the water or on the deck. We saw all kinds of wildlife, the weather was beautiful and John was very responsive. We would gladly come here again if we get the chance!

This house is on a beautiful piece of property right on Somes Sound. Definitely away from the hustle & bustle of Bar Harbor. There was plenty of room for our party of 7, nice kitchen & living area, spacious bedrooms, and great deck with a view of the sound. The quaint town of Southwest Harbor is only a 8-10 minute drive away with a fantastic bakery & several wonderful restaurants! Echo lake beach for swimming is only a couple miles away. Very good communication with owners and some minor issues were immediately dealt with. We enjoyed our week at Acadia Cove!

Always the highlight of our year—John & Paul are truly wonderful hosts who run a very special place that has become a family mainstay for us. We can’t recommend ACC enough!

The cabin was in a beautiful location with incredible views. Very well stocked and comfortable. Perfect homebase to explore Acadia. Would stay again.

Acadia Cove Cabin is in one word perfect. It is right on Somes Sound, with a beautiful view across the Sound, both from the living room and the deck, and also below at the waterfront, with the Adirondack chairs, fire pit, and hammock. The house is easily to get to, also because of the very clear information provided by the host, John. The house itself is gorgeous too, with plenty of space, everything you need, comfortable beds, a very well-equipped kitchen, and it is immaculately clean. Acadia Cove Cabin is very well located for visiting Acadia National Park, including hikes nearby, and it is close to Southwest Harbor, which has some of the best restaurants (such as Red Sky and Beal's Lobster Pier). We will definitely want to come back here when we visit Acadia again.

This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. The view of the sound and the sun rising up over the mountaintops in the morning are second to none. The wildlife only adds to the beauty of the place. The owner, John, was very informative and provided great information about the local area. We were happy we made the choice we did.

Acadia Cove was quiet, cozy, and clean.

Beautiful views from majority of rooms looking right onto Sound. Most mornings you can sit down by waterfront and watch seals swimming. Sunrise is beautiful to view from anywhere on property over the mountain. Kitchen is well stocked - to include pasta maker which we made use of multiple times. Easy access to all that Acadia has to offer.

As someone who has spent multiple years vacationing on MDI. I've found my favorite part of the island is Hall Quarry. It's location on the upper end of the "Quiet Side" means you are fairly centrally located while being out of the main congestion of the island during high seasons.
The house is beautifully sited at the base of Acadia Mountain perched above a granite shore's edge on Somes Sound. With an easterly view, mornings are special in the cottage. One can awaken to watch an Acadia Park sun rise above Norumbega Mountain as the local lobstermen pull their traps at daybreak on the tranquil tidal waters of Somes Sound not more than 100 yards offshore.
The cottage, recently built, and although modest in some respects, is well appointed & maintained, hosting a beautiful and fully functional kitchen along with a comfortable and spacious open living / dining area. The bedrooms are modest and without views, intentionally locating the best views and most captivating spaces in the public areas (kitchen/dining/living) with soaring ceilings and expansive views of the Sound, Sargeant Drive, and the tree line mountains of Acadia National Park beyond.
If you wish for peace, tranquility, & privacy; even when the Park is at full capacity; this rental tops my list.

We loved our stay at this cabin while visiting Acadia National Park! The location was perfect for relaxing and just a short drive into Bar Harbor for dinners etc. It is a great central location if you are visiting ANP and close to many of the sights on our must do list!! We also loved Southwest Harbor as well. But the scenery at the cabin was so nice we opted for dinner IN and smores a couple of nights! Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time spending a week in the Acadia Cove Cabin. The house was beautiful and it was apparent they took great care in window placement to provide awesome views whether on the first or second floors. The access to the sound was very convenient especially having our kayaks with us. John made himself available if needed and was very prompt in getting back to us if we had questions. The location was private and peaceful with fantastics views of the sound and nearby wildlife. We would stay again for sure!

We had an amazing week. We were blown away by the beautiful views from inside the home and from the peaceful, private shoreline. This home is in a perfect location for exploring Acadia, Bar Harbor, and the surrounding areas. It was clean and well stocked. The owner was welcoming and gave us some perfect recommendations for hikes and swimming spots. Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise with our family.

We cannot say how much it means to us to come to this magical location again this year! John is a true gentleman who is very attentive and friendly—we felt like extended family. We will definitely come back every opportunity that we can. Bravo

We had such a wonderful stay! The cabin and property was perfect for our group of 6. The cabin was clean and kitchen fully stocked. We had a fire pit and paddeboarded right off the property. Owner was very helpful with everything. Quiet and great location on the “quiet side” of the island. Highly recommend this property!

We enjoyed our stay at Acadia Cove. The view of the water from the living room was beautiful. The kids enjoyed exploring the beach below and the stargazing was great. The house had everything we needed.

My wife & I loved the Acadia Cove Cabin & the 5 days of peace & relaxation it provided. We found the location to be ideal for exploring both sides of Mt. Desert Island….20 minute drive to Bar Harbor, 10 minutes to Southwest Harbor. The cabin itself is in a very quiet, secluded location directly on picturesque Somes Sound. The views from the deck & rear facing windows were amazing. One morning after returning from catching the incredible sunrise on Cadillac mountain we saw 4 deer passing through the back yard. The cabin itself is new construction with a well thought out design providing modern amenities & appliances while maintaining a very rustic feel. It is spacious, clean & comfortable. Some highlights of cabins features we enjoyed: great shower(2 shower heads with great water pressure…nice after a long day of hiking), WiFi to allow us to stream movies off of our laptop at night, comfortably firm mattress, grill on deck for burgers & steak tips. Having never been to MDI before our only hesitation before booking was if we wanted to be closer to downtown Bar Harbor but after this trip we are grateful to have booked on Somes sound….we really enjoyed the vibe and slower pace found on “The Quiet Side” of MDI. Would definitely come back. The owner John is very welcoming & accommodating…he obviously takes great pride in his property & providing his guests with a great experience.

This is hands down the best VRBO stay we have had. It is a genuine privilege that this property is actually available for people to enjoy a short term rental. Thanks so much to the owner for welcoming people to this home. The open floor plan and large windows make it perfect for a visit to Acadia National Park. Absolutely loved every minute.

Loved the location! It is quiet and the views of the sound and nature are beautiful. It is also conveniently located to all the Acadia hiking trails. We relied on the Wi-Fi for daily planning, watching programs (no TV), and communications (inconsistent cell service in area). It was a comfortable house for the two of us.

we have lots of funs inside and outside of the house. we are group of six and stay for seven nights. big house, enough space for everyone. Different beautiful views from the living room window in the morning and the evening. Saw dears a few times. The draw backs are there is only one shower for the whole house and the drive to the house is kind of scare.

Blessed to have stayed another two weeks at this amazing property. It's always spotless when we move in, everything works, and the ever-changing view of Somes Sound Never ceases to delight.
It's near our favorite carriage trails (an easy drive to the Seal Harbor entrances), and our favorite restaurants (Asticou in Northeast Harbor for lunch, and Cafe2/Eat a Pita in Southwest Harbor for dinner).
We would love the addition of a TV for watching sports or movies together in the evening, but that's the only thing lacking. It's an amazing place to stay, and we give it our highest recommendation.

The house is a nicely appointed modern cabin overlooking the sound. The location is remote enough to be quiet but still close to everything. We loved walking on the shore at low tide and having coffee on the deck.

It's a wonderful, peaceful, and beautiful location with stunning views of Somes Sound. The cabin's location is ideal for seeing the sights on MDI. The cabin was clean, well-stocked, and comfortable, and if we ever return to MDI, we will not hesitate to book this cabin again.

This was our second stay! It’s a beautiful spot and home. Pink sunsets, easy access to Acadia hiking and biking trails and a gorgeous setting on a rocky shore. The home is very nice, clean and the owners are welcoming and responsive. Hope to be back again!

We had an incredible stay here. The home is wonderful with all the amenities. We had an initial issue but was very quickly resolved by the owner. The location is incredible. My kids didn't want to leave the calm shore line. Quiet, beautiful and just absolutely perfect.

Incredible!
Staying at Acadia Cove Cabin was a nearly spiritual experience for us -- the light in the cabin is beautiful, and waking up to water, mountains, birds and sky was incredible. We avoided Bar Harbor for the most part and made good use of the well-equipped (and beautiful) kitchen. Check out the Beech Hill farm for fresh produce.

Peaceful getaway
The property is serene and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay because the picture windows overlooking the sound were mesmerizing. Sitting there we were able to view ospreys and eagles and lobstermen. The kitchen was well equipped and the heaters worked well on the cool evenings that we happened to have. The long driveway to the house and the house itself were in excellent condition.

Just Amazing! Highlight of the Trip!
Photos do not do this place justice! We had an incredible stay (2 Grandparents, 3 adults, and a 4 and 1.5 year old). The house was the highlight of an amazing trip to Maine. Secluded location, clean cabin house, didn't have to worry about the kids breaking the owners family décor like in some other rentals where it is the owners primary residence. We did have to buy some toys for the kids for some of the rainy days, but when the weather corroborated the kids just enjoyed playing on the property grounds and the rocks during low tides. Everything was amazing. If you are teetering between this rental and another just book this one! You won't be disappointed. Guaranteed!

Perfect location to enjoy MDI!
Acadia Cove Cottage proved to be a perfect spot to enjoy MDI. You get to enjoy being close to all of the great trails in Acadia while being situated on a lovely property along Somes Sound. The newly built home is even better than the photos suggest - the kitchen and living area, with their amazing views of the sound, are well appointed, comfortable, and all that you could hope for in a vacation home. The bedrooms have privacy with the upstairs loft sufficiently tucked away to afford privacy as well. If you want to see deer, eagles, water birds, and boat activity, and have a peacefully quiet and star-filled night, this home is for you.

Beautiful Secluded Cabin - great location
Cabin is stellar, well equipped, modern, with incredible views. The firepit by the water was wonderful and the sheer quiet sitting by the water is something you can't find just anywhere. Highly recommend! Five stars

An absolutely fabulous getaway
What a wonderful place to stay. My wife and I enjoyed two glorious weeks in this clean, modern gem, set in a perfect location. The house was spotless, everything worked, and it was very easy to relax in.
Every morning we awoke to a marvelous view of Somes Sound, and always enjoyed the water traffic, ranging from three-masted sailboats to the lobster boats working as close as 10 feet to shore.
The house feels completely isolated, yet "downtown" Southwest Harbor is only four miles away. It was incredibly easy to get to the supermarket or to a restaurant whenever we needed to.
The only downside, and it was a real one, given our two-week stay, is that there was no television. Although we don't watch a lot of TV, and yes, this house is a "get away from it all" location, we missed being able to relax watching a movie together once it got dark, or catch the Red Sox game in the middle of a tight pennant race.
With that said, we've already booked for next year, because the place is just so amazing. Can't wait to return!

Wonderful stay
This special home was a perfect spot for our family to enjoy Mt. Desert. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. It’s a perfect base for exploring the island, but great for just relaxing and enjoying the spectacular view. We hope to return soon. Thank you John and everyone!

Beautiful setting!
We had a wonderful stay at this home. It's new, clean, stocked with essentials, and in such a beautiful setting. We loved spending time by the rocky shore and sitting out on the deck -- stunning views. It's a great location for exploring Mount Desert Island. We hope to be back!

Great trip even better property
Nothing but great things to say about this property. John was great to coordinate with and the house is even better than the pictures show. Perfect central location to explore the island and a secluded oasis to return to. Kids loved the yard and rocks to play on by the water. Fire pit on the edge of Somes Sound can’t be beat. House is stocked with everything you could need and was spotless upon our arrival. John provided some great suggestions for first times to MDI. Can’t imagine there is a better property to be had.
